2024 Indoor Soccer

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2024 Indoor Soccer Program. Register early to secure a spot on a team!

  • Who: Open to all children ages 6 through 12.
  • What: Indoor soccer. All participants must have their own shin guards.
  • Where: All League games are played at the Linden Multi Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: The League begins on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 10:15am.
  • How: Registration deadline is December 29, 2023. After deadline, all registrants must register at the main office and a waiting list will be established. Registration fee is $56 for residents, and $66 for non-residents. The registration fee includes a one-time annual $6 insurance fee. All participants must have their own shin guards. Register online here, or register in person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9am until 7pm. All locations accept checks, money orders, Visa and Mastercard. No refunds once the League begins. For more information, call (908) 474-8600. Please note: all new “First Time” participants must bring the following original documents that will be verified at registration:
    • Child’s original birth certificate.
    • Household bill showing proof of residency.
    • Diver’s License or photo ID of parent/guardian signing up their child.

2024 Little Kickers Indoor Clinic

  • Who: Open to all children ages 4 and 5.
  • What: Indoor soccer. All participants must have their own shin guards.
  • Where: All Clinic practices are played at the Linden Multi Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: The League begins on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 9am. Clinic will run for eight (8) Saturdays: January 13, 20 and 27, February 3, 10, 17 and 24 and March 2.

Double Dutch

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Department of Parks & Recreation invite third through eighth graders to join Double Dutch.

  • Who: Third through eighth grade.
  • What: Double Dutch is a creative and challenging sport. It’s a great source of exercise using 2-4 ropes. Jumping can improve heart health, balance and rhythm. Individuals will learn basics turning techniques, fancy trick movements and speed jumping. We invite you to have fun and challenge your skill level in competitive competitions. Practice as needed on Saturdays, field trips, and competitions will be notified in advance.
  • Where: Linden Multi-Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: Mondays, 5:30pm until 7pm, December 4, 2023 through January 29, 2024.
    • No class on December 25, 2023
    • No class on January 1 and 15, 2024

Third Annual Rec’s-Giving

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Department of Parks & Recreation invite you to attend the third annual Rec’s-Giving! Meals will be grab-and-go.

  • What: Rec’s-Giving. Providing dinner on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. One dinner per person. Meals will be grab-and-go.

Fire Drill at the John T. Gregorio Center

Mayor Derek Armstead, the Linden Fire Department, and the Department of Parks & Recreation invite the JTG seniors to participate in a Fire Drill to be fully knowledgeable of best practices in the event of a fire in the building.

Linden Recreation Tiger Cubs Basketball

  • Who: Fourth through eighth grade girls and boys.
  • What: Linden Recreation Tiger Cubs Basketball tryouts.

2023 Annual Community Harvest Event

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation and Morning Star Community Christian Center are pleased to offer a safe alternative to trick or treating at the 2023 Annual Community Harvest Party.

  • Who: Fun for the entire family.
  • What: 2023 Annual Community Harvest Party, a safe alternative to trick or treating. Come and enjoy candy, prizes, contests and games!
  • Where: Linden PAL Building, which is located at 400 Maple Avenue.
  • When: Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 4pm until 7pm.

Halloween Parade

Mayor Derek Armstsead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation, Uptown Linden, the Linden Board of Education, the Union County Board of County Commissioners, Columbia Bank and the Halloween Parade Committee invite you to attend Linden’s 70th annual Halloween Parade on October 22!

  • What: Halloween parade.
  • When: Sunday, October 22, 2023. Parade lineup is at 1pm. The parade will start promptly at 2pm.
    • Rain date is Sunday, October 29, 2023.
  • Where: The parade lineup will begin at the Community Center Building, which is located at 605 South Wood Avenue. The parade will continue down Wood Avenue and end at the House of Flowers, which is located at 650 North Wood Avenue. 
  • How: Anyone who would like join in the parade and/or for more information, contact the John T. Gregorio Recreation Center at 908-474-8600.

Dancing For Cancer Awareness

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Department of Parks & Recreation present Pink Thursday Afterwork Dancing for Cancer Awareness.  

  • What: Pink Thursday Afterwork Dancing for Cancer Awareness. Free mammogram and prostate information. Tony Touch and Dawn Tallman will be performing. DJ’s Tamir, Soulfingers and Robert Andrew will play Latin dance music and Afro dance music.
  • Where: Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade, which is located at 400 North Wood Avenue.
  • When: Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 5pm until 9pm.
  • How: Free event.
