Extended Summer Camp

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Department of Parks & Recreation are excited to introduce our extended summer camp! The extension consists of two additional weeks. This camp will be available for children entering K-8.

  • Who: Children entering K-8
  • What: Extended summer camp. There are no trips scheduled for these additional weeks.
  • Where:
    • For K-2: McGillvray Park, which is located on Bedle Place off of Park Avenue.
    • For 3-5: Memorial Park, which is located on Tremley Point Road.
    • For 6-8: Wilson Park, which is located at 1100 Summit Terrace.
  • When: Monday through Friday from 8:30am until 5pm
    • Week 1: August 17 through August 21.
    • Week 2: August 24 through August 28
  • How: $75 for each week. You may register your child for one week or both! First-come, first-served. To register, please contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 908-474-8639.

City of Linden Noise Ordinance No. 2023-08

The City of Linden Noise Ordinance No.2023-08 exists to promote the health, safety, and welfare of all residents by minimizing unnecessary and excessive noise. Please be considerate of your neighbors and help keep out community peaceful, safe and enjoyable for everyone.   • Excessive loud vehicle stereos are among the most common noise complaints received by the City.
    • Motorcycles must have a muffler meeting federal standards (40 CFR Part 205)
    • Removing or disabling a vehicles noise-control equipment is unlawful.
  • Power tools, landscaping and yard maintenance equipment must be operated with a muffler and/or sound reduction device.
  • All motorized equipment and demolition activity (excluding emergency work) must be operated with a muffler and/or sound reduction device.
  • If your neighbors can clearly hear your music from distances of 25 feet and/or 50 feet, you may be in violation of the ordinance.
  • It is unlawful to allow any domesticated or caged animal to create a sound that unreasonably disturbs neighbors.
  • Violations of the Noise Ordinance (No. 2023-08) may result in summonses and fines. Click here to learn more.

    • In case of emergency, call 9-1-1.

Linden Summer Day Camp & Playground Annual Craft & Talent Show – Rescheduled to August 6

Due to the rain forecast the Summer Day Camp & Playground Annual Craft & Talent Show has been rescheduled to tomorrow, Thursday, August 6.

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Department of Parks & Recreation invite you to come see what the children and counselors have been doing all summer!

  • What: The Linden Summer Day Camp & Playground Annual Craft and Talent Show.
  • Where: Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade, which is located at 400 North Wood Avenue.
  • When: Thursday, August 6, from 5pm until 9pm.

Fall 2026/Spring 2027 Shade Tree Planting at Various Locations in the City of Linden

The City of Linden will conduct and broadcast the bid opening in real time at Linden City Hall, 301 North Wood Avenue in the Council Conference Room, 2nd Floor of Linden City Hall. Offerors and the public have the option of remotely viewing the offer opening through a Google Meet conference with visual and audio capability. Offerors may join the virtual bid opening on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 10:00 AM by going to https://meet.google.com/aei-fiva-dps 

An addendum titled “Addendum 1” has been issued for the solicitation titled “Fall 2026/Spring 2027 Shade Tree Planting at Various Locations in the City of Linden”. The addendum is visible in the MuniVendor platform, and can also be viewed here.

A BID BOND or CERTIFIED CHECK made payable to the City of Linden, in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the total bid to secure performance is REQUIRED.

ALL BIDDERS shall conform to the intention and provisions of Affirmative Action in Public Contracts Laws of State of New Jersey R.S. 10:2-1 of 7/23/75, Assembly Bill No. 2227.

Heavy Rain and Flooding Alert

The National Weather Service is forecasting a significant rain event that will impact portions of New Jersey over the coming days, bringing periods of heavy rainfall, localized flooding, strong winds, and hazardous travel conditions. Expected rainfall amounts may cause flooding in low-lying areas, poor drainage locations, roadways, streams, and flood-prone properties. Additionally, gusty winds could lead to isolated power outages, downed trees, and travel disruptions. 

We urge all residents to exercise caution, avoid driving through flooded roads, and secure any loose outdoor items.
