“We are honored that Firefighter Haskell will be recognized and added to the National Memorial. FF Haskell suffered a heart attack while opening a fire hydrant at a structure fire on the corner of Lindegar St. and W. Elizabeth Ave. on November 8, 1982. Two months later while still recuperating FF Haskell suffered a fatal heart attack at home. The National Memorial was built in 1981, but unfortunately the department never submitted an application for him to be recognized. Thanks to the hard work of Deputy Chief Carl Tattoli, retired Deputy Chief Kevin Brady and retired FF Brian Pericone, who made a submission to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, FF Haskell will finally get the recognition he so deserves.” – Linden Fire Chief William Hasko Jr.
