Pothole Report Form

It’s easier than ever for Linden residents to report potholes so that our streets remain safe and well-maintained. The new Pothole Report Form streamlines requests directly to our Department of Public Works.

When you spot a pothole while out and about, don’t presume someone else has reported it! Take a minute to fill out the form to provide our crews with the exact location and details needed to prioritize the repair.

    Free Rabies Vaccination Clinics

    Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Linden Health Department are pleased to provide free Rabies Vaccination Clinics. New and renewal pet licensing services will also be available. Per City ordinances, all dogs in Linden must be licensed, and anyone found to have an unlicensed dog in the City is subject to summons to Municipal Court.

    The annual fee for a dog license is $10 for a spayed/neutered dog, and $13 for a dog that has not been spayed/neutered. In order to be issued a license, the dog owner must provide written proof of a rabies vaccination that is valid for at least 10 months of the licensing year. All Linden residents with dogs that need a vaccination and/or a new or renewed dog license are encouraged to take advantage of these free clinics.

    For safety, all dogs must be leashed and all cats must be in carriers.

    • Who: Open to all New Jersey residents. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by their parent or guardian. License Reminder Notice or photo ID is required.
    • What: Free rabies vaccinations. There will also be staff from the City Clerk’s office present to provide licensing services for both new and renewal dog licenses. Board of Health Outreach staff will be on hand with health information and giveaways. For the convenience of Linden residents, the City recently extended the start and end dates of the dog licensing year. Up until now, dog licenses were valid from April 1 through March 31. Starting with the 2024 licensing year, dog licenses are now valid from June 1 through May 31 each year. By changing the licensing dates to June 1 through May 31 of each year, Linden residents who vaccinate their dogs at the free clinics in May can renew their dog licenses on time, and these vaccinations are valid for up to 3 full dog licensing years. 
    • When & Where:
      • Saturday, May 2, from 10am until 2pm, at Fire House #2, 302 West St. Georges Avenue.
      • Thursday, May 13, from 4pm until 8pm, at Fire House #3, which is located at 1205 East Elizabeth Avenue.
      • Monday, May 18, from 4pm until 8pm, at at Fire House #1, which is located at 302 South Wood Avenue.
    • How: Free clinic. If there are any questions about the rabies vaccine and/or the free clinics, please call the Board of Health at 908-474-8409, or email here. If there are any questions about dog licensing, please call the City Clerk’s office at 908-474-8406. All current 2025 dog licenses can be renewed up until June 30, 2026 without incurring a late fee. All 2025 dog licenses that are renewed on July 1, 2026 or later will incur a $5 late fee.

    2026 New Jersey Law Enforcement Entry Examination – Public Information Meeting

    • What: Law Enforcement Public Information Meeting. Officers will be on hand to answer any questions a potential applicant might have about eligibility, background investigations, physical requirements, and training. For anyone interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement, our goal is to make sure you know exactly what to expect throughout the process.

    2026 Linden Summer Day Camp Program

    Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce that registration is open for the 2026 Linden Summer Day Camp Program!

    • Who: Open to all children entering kindergarten through eighth grade. Participants must be a Linden resident.
    • What: Seven (7) week program; Linden Summer Day Camp.
    • When: Camp begins June 29, 2026, and ends August 14, 2026.
      • General Camp: Monday through Friday from 8am until 5pm.
      • Teen Camp: Monday through Friday from 9am until 4pm.
    • How: Registration deadline is May 15, 2026. Limited spots available.

    Passing of Former Council President Myles J. Hergert

    Former Linden Council President Myles J. Hergert, 92, of Forked River, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, surrounded by his family.  He was born on July 1, 1933, in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Louis and Emilie (Rapasky) Hergert.  Myles – affectionately known as “Mickey” in his youth – was a man whose life was defined by an unwavering commitment to faith, family, and hard work.     Linden Fire Department 2026 Junior Fire Academy

    Registration for the Linden Fire Department’s 2026 Junior Fire Academy will open on March 18, 2026! “The Junior Fire Academy provides an opportunity to educate the recruits about the Linden Fire Department, the services we provide and enlighten them on the possibility of a future career in firefighting,” said Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Brady.

    • Who: Available to Linden students graduating 7th and 8th grades.
    • What: Linden Fire Department Junior Fire Academy. Learn about the Linden Fire Department and explore a future career in Firefighting! Receive basic training in physical fitness, department operations, fire science, HazMat, first-aid and CPR. Demonstrations include Engine and Ladder Truck Operations, Rope Rescue, Car Extrication, HazMat and more!
    • When: June 23 through June 26, 2026 from 8am until 3pm.
    • How: Applications can either be dropped off at Linden Fire Headquarters or submitted online. Applications are available at Fire Headquarters, which is located at 302 South Wood Avenue. The deadline for in-person applications is Friday, May 8, 2026 at 3pm and the deadline for online applications is Friday, May 8, 2026 at 11:59pm. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.     Street Cleaning Update

    The Department of Public Works will resume their normal street cleaning schedule beginning on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Sweepers will be instructed to sweep the No Parking side as well as any visible debris on the other side or the middle of the street. Of course, they will not be able to approach the curb in all instances but they will do their best to get rid of the unsightly debris.

    Linden Police Department Youth Police Academy

    • Who: The Linden Police Department Youth Police Academy is available to Linden students graduating 6th, 7th and 8th grades.
    • What: Linden Police Department Youth Academy. As part of the Academy, you’ll learn about the Linden Police Department and other law enforcement agencies, you’ll receive basic training in police procedures/operations, criminal investigations, drill and ceremony and first aid! You will also benefit from demonstrations including DUI goggles, the effects of drinking and driving, K‐9, SWAT, Bomb Squad, and more! And most of all, you’ll have a lot of fun! The LPD Youth Academy is NOT a “bootcamp” for troubled youth. The Academy is structured to simulate a police academy for those interested in law enforcement.
    • When: July 13 through July 17, 2026.
    • How: Application deadline is April 17, 2026 at 3pm. Space is limited to 30 recruits. Enrollment will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. No late applications will be accepted.     Hooked on Fishing

    Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce that registration is open for the 2026 Fishing Season for all Linden children ages 5 through 18! Registration deadline is Friday, March 13, 2026. All children ages 5 through 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 16 and older will need to purchase a fishing license. All attendees must wear provided goggles.

    • Who: Linden children ages 5 through 18.
    • What: Hooked on Fishing. This program will teach children basic fishing skills, including how to string and bait a pole, how to cast a line and about local fishing regulations. All attendees must wear provided goggles. We encourage you to bring your chair and snacks. Let’s enjoy the fishing season!
    • When: Thursdays, from 5:30pm until 7pm.
      • April 16, 23, and 30.
      • May 7, 14, 21, and 28.
      • June 4.
      • **Fishing Derby is on Saturday, June 6, from 9am until 1pm, in honor of Butchie Scoles (awards to follow)**
    • Where: Wilson Park, which is located at 1113 Summit Terrace.
    • How: Registration deadline is Thursday, March 13, 2026. $6 insurance fee for first-time registrants. All children ages 5 through 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
