Linden Health and Wellness Fair

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Linden Health Department are pleased to present the Linden Health and Wellness Fair.

  • Who: Free entry, everyone is welcome!
  • What: Health and Wellness Fair. Free health services will be offered including blood pressure readings, blood sugar readings, DermaView sun damage analyzer, male and female cancer screenings, vision tests, hearing tests, flu vaccinations and more! Tables with local health and wellness information, products and services. Enjoy prizes and giveaways, including a free six-page budget-friendly recipe booklet available for each attendee.
  • When: Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 10am until 2pm.
  • Where: School #1 Gym, which is located at 720 North Wood Avenue.

2023 Linden Cheer & Mentor Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2023 Linden Cheer and Mentor Program directed by Coach Colvin.

  • Who: Ages 5 through 17.
  • What: Linden Cheer and Mentor Program directed by Coach Colvin.
  • When: Every Saturday from September 16 through November 11.
    • 9am until 10:15am
    • 10:30am until 11:45am
  • Where: Linden P.A.L., which is located at 400 Maple Avenue.

Sewing Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer youth and adult sewing programs.

  • What: Youth and adult sewing classes. Classes are grouped by age range.
    • Youth Sewing (ages 8 through 13): students will learn all about basic hand-sewing stitches!
    • Adult Sewing (ages 18 and up): students will choose their own sewing pattern! All details regarding fabric and patterns will be discussed during the first class. Sewing machines provided for use!
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Six week program. Every Friday beginning on September 29, 2023 through November 3, 2023.
    • Ages 8 through 13, from 5:15pm until 6:45pm
    • Ages 18 and up, from 7pm until 8:30pm.

Kids Sound & Meditation

  • Who: For kids ages 10 through 16.
  • What: Kids Sound and Meditation class. Children will learn learn different ways to incorporate meditation and mindfulness into their daily routine. Crystal sound bowls will be played to help them relax their minds and bodies. Your child will leave with great tools that they can bring with them into their lives.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Tuesdays, September 19 through October 24, from 6:15pm until 7pm.

Senior Citizen Line Dancing

  • Who: For Linden senior residents.
  • What: Senior line dancing classes. Line dancing for seniors is a fun, healthy and rewarding activity and exercise. Dancing styles incorporated into the class include salsa, ballroom and country western.
  • When: Thursdays, September 14 through December 21, 2023, from 10:30am until 11:30am.
    • No class on November 23, 2023.

Senior Zumba Gold

  • Who: For Linden senior residents. Participants should consult with a physician prior to participation.
  • What: Perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower intensity, with easy-to-follow Zumba choreography. The main focus is on balance, range of motion and coordination.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Fridays, September 15 through December 8, 2023 from 9:30am until 10:30am.

2023 Fall Tennis Lessons

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation, and USTA Certified Pro tennis instructor Tony Labonte are pleased to present Fall Tennis Lessons. Youth and Adult sessions will be offered.

2023 Fall Wrestling Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2023 Fall Wrestling Program. Our program has produced League and State champions! All skill levels are welcome.

  • Who: For children ages 8 through 18.
  • What: Instruction on basic wrestling techniques and skills to improve one’s body awareness and overall confidence. All participants must have their own wrestling shoes. All skill levels are welcome.
  • When: Program runs from September 19 through November 21, 2023. Practice will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm until 8pm .
    • No practice on October 31, November 7 and November 9.
  • Where: McManus Middle School Gymnasium, which is located at 300 Edgewood Road.
  • How: $25 registration fee, plus a $6 insurance fee. All participants must have their own wrestling shoes. Register online here, or register in-person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9:30am until 7:30pm.
