Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Blossoming Bowlers 5, in cooperation with the Linden Police Department. Let’s “strike up some fun,” and celebrate family bowling at Jersey Lanes! Registration required.

  • Who: Free bowling outing for all Union County special needs families.
  • What: Blossoming Bowlers 5, Let’s “strike up some fun,” and celebrate family bowling at Jersey Lanes! This program is funded by the NJ Department of Community Affairs ROID Grant (Recreational Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities). Each participant can bring family members for music, food, and fun. Students that are sensitive to noise, please bring headsets as there will be a DJ present.
  • Where: Jersey Lanes, which is located at 30 Park Avenue.
  • When: Saturday, August 30 from 2pm until 4pm.

Mayor’s Backpack Giveaway 2025

Mayor Derek Armstead in collaboration with the Mayor’s Youth Commission, Communities In Cooperation, Inc, Department of Parks & Recreation, Local Businesses, and Community Based Partners present Mayor’s Backpack Giveaway!

  • Who: Linden’s School age residents.
  • What: Mayor’s Backpack Giveaway. Children must be present to receive a bag. One bag per child. While supplies last! There will also be a special guest performance by Saul Paul.
  • When: Monday, August 25, 2025 from 5pm until 7pm.
  • Where: Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade, which is located at 400 North Wood Avenue. Check in starts at the rear in CVS parking lot.
  • How: Complete form below to register. Proof of Linden residency will be required at check in to receive a ticket for a bag. One bag per child. While supplies last!

  • What: Outdoor Dining at the Promenade. Join us under the tents and enjoy dining “al fresco”. Delicious food, mixed drinks, live DJ music and karaoke. Fun for the whole family! Featuring music by DJ Faz.
  • When: Thursday, August 14, from 6pm until 9:30pm.
  • Where: Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade, which is located at 400 North Wood Avenue.
  • How: All vendor food plates one size, one price! Only $10, food from local Linden restaurants and food trucks will be available, and dine under tents in the Promenade!

Summer Movies in the Park

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Linden Department of Parks & Recreation are partnering with the Linden Housing Authority to present Movies in the Park.

  • What: Movies in the Park, Captain America – Brave New World. Entertainment fun for the whole family!
  • When: Rescheduled date, Wednesday, July 16, at 6:30pm.
  • Where: Peach Orchid Park, which is located at 1400 Dill Avenue.
  • How: Free Admission. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, snacks and beverages. We ask that you please properly discard your trash.

Smartphone Training Workshop

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer a Smartphone Training Workshop. This program is made possible in part by a 2025 HEART (History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands) Grant from the Union County Board of Commissioners.

  • What: Smartphone Training Workshop hosted by Valerie Porter. This session will focus on how to create a social security account online to access earnings data and other important information. It will also focus on spam and fraud prevention.
  • Where: Linden Multi-Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: July 10, 2025 from 12pm until 1:30pm.
