Teen Pilates

  • Who: Ages 13 through 17.
  • What: Teen Pilates. Whether you’re crushing it on the field, in the gym, at dance, or spending hours with homework and screens, this class will help you unlock tight muscles. It will also help with improving flexibility and strengthening your core. Expect a fun mix of stretching, mobility drills, and core work designed to help you fell stronger, recover better, and move more freely!
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Tuesdays, September 8, 2026 through September 29, 2026 from 4:30pm until 5:30pm.

Senior Chair Yoga

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Senior Chair Yoga.

  • Who: For Linden Senior Residents.
  • What: Senior Chair Yoga. This program is designed to help loosen stiff joints and muscles, increasing flexibility and making daily activities easier. In addition, you will be strengthening your core muscles to be able to improve your balance and stability, reducing the risk of falls.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Thursdays, September 3, 2026 through November 19, 2026, from 9am until 10am.
  • How: Program for Linden Senior Residents. The fee for this program will be $9 (mats will be provided). Non-members must register and pay the $6 insurance fee. Senior Citizen Water Aerobics

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Senior Citizen Water Aerobics.

  • Who: For Linden Senior Residents.
  • What: Seniors will enjoy the benefit of low-impact water aerobics led by a certified instructor. Swimwear is required, and swim caps are recommended.
  • Where: Rahway YMCA, which is located at 1564 Irving Street, Rahway, NJ 07065. Transportation will be provided, drop off and pick up will be from the John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street. The bus will be leaving promptly at 8:30am.
  • When: Tuesdays, September 8, 2026 through November 17, 2026 from 9am until 10am.

Adult Pilates

  • What: Adult Pilates. Provides stability, mobility, and flexibility through concentrated movements. Improves postural alignment and helps correct muscular imbalances.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Tuesdays, September 8, 2026 through October 27, 2026 from 6pm until 7pm.

Self-Defense Class

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer a self-defense class hosted by the Linden Police Department. The self-defense community event taught by certified instructors will provide our residents the opportunity to learn essential standing and ground skills to stay safe and confident.

  • Who: Ages 18 and up.
  • What: The Linden Police Department will be hosting a self-defense community event. This class is open to all adults, including seniors, who want to learn practical skills to feel safer and confident. Participants should be able to engage in light physical activity, such as standing or basic movements, to fully benefit from the class. Seniors with more advanced mobility challenges are warmly invited to join as spectators.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Thursday, October 8, 2026 from 5pm until 7:30pm.

Self Defense Clinic

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation and Optimum Human Performance are pleased to offer a Eight-week Self Defense Clinic with Shihan Rahim and assistant instructors.

  • Who: Linden residents only ages 5 through 17.
  • What: Eight-week Self Defense Clinic with Shihan Rahim and assistant instructors. The Self Defense Clinic will teach striking, katas, ground movement, and escape techniques
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Eight-week program. Every Monday, from October 19, 2026 through December 7, 2026.
    • Youth (5 through 12 years old) – 5pm until 6pm.
    • Teens (13 through 17 years old) – 6:30pm until 7:30pm.

2026 Fall Tennis Lessons

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation, and USTA Certified Pro tennis instructor Tony Labonte are pleased to present Fall Tennis Lessons. Youth and Adult sessions will be offered.

    • Tuesday or Thursday classes will meet at Memorial Park (2600 South Wood Avenue) on September 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, and October 1, 8, 13, and 115.

  • What: Senior Pilates. Stay strong, flexible, and active with Senior Pilates! Our classes for adults 50+ help imporve balance, posture, and mobility. This is done through gentle exercises that are suitable for all fitness levels.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Tuesdays, September 8, 2026 through October 27, 2026 from 3pm until 4pm.

Extended Summer Camp

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Department of Parks & Recreation are excited to introduce our extended summer camp! The extension consists of two additional weeks. This camp will be available for children entering K-8.

  • Who: Children entering K-8
  • What: Extended summer camp. There are no trips scheduled for these additional weeks.
  • Where:
    • For K-2: McGillvray Park, which is located on Bedle Place off of Park Avenue.
    • For 3-5: Memorial Park, which is located on Tremley Point Road.
    • For 6-8: Wilson Park, which is located at 1100 Summit Terrace.
  • When: Monday through Friday from 8:30am until 5pm
    • Week 1: August 17 through August 21.
    • Week 2: August 24 through August 28
  • How: $75 for each week. You may register your child for one week or both! First-come, first-served. To register, please contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 908-474-8639.
