Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation, and USTA Certified Pro tennis instructor Tony Labonte are pleased to present Fall Tennis Lessons. Youth and Adult sessions will be offered.

• Who: Ages 5 and up. Youth and adult classes designated by age range.

  • Wednesday classes will meet at Memorial Park (2600 South Wood Avenue) on September 20 and 27, October 4, 11, 18 and 25.

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2023 Fall Wrestling Program. Our program has produced League and State champions! All skill levels are welcome.

• Who: For children ages 8 through 18.
• What: Instruction on basic wrestling techniques and skills to improve one’s body awareness and overall confidence. All participants must have their own wrestling shoes. All skill levels are welcome.
• When: Program runs from September 19 through November 21, 2023. Practice will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm until 8pm .
  • No practice on October 31, November 7 and November 9.
• Where: McManus Middle School Gymnasium, which is located at 300 Edgewood Road.
• How: $25 registration fee, plus a $6 insurance fee. All participants must have their own wrestling shoes. Register online here, or register in-person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9:30am until 7:30pm. • Who: Two age groups: ages 5 through 10, and ages 11 through 17.
• What: Mixed Martial Arts, an effective form of self defense. Marital Arts is an art form that tests not only physical strength and endurance, but mental perseverance, determination and patience. This is all through a positive attitude, discipline, and respect towards others and ourselves.
• Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
• When: Six week program. Every Wednesday from September 20 through October 25, 2023.
  • Ages 5 through 10, from 5:45pm until 7pm.
  • Ages 11 through 17, from 7pm until 8:15pm.

Due to the popularity of this class, we are offering two dates per month to register your child for the class. Please choose one or the other. There are 15 slots per class and the classes fill quickly. Don’t be left out, register today!

• What: Kids canvas paint classes. All supplies included. The painting classes are guided with the instructor showing every step. Small color copies of the painting will be handed out to the children for reference. Background music will be available to create a more creative and tranquil atmosphere for the young artists.
• Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
• When: Due to the popularity of this class, after the month of September, we are offering two dates per month to register your child for the class. Please choose one or the other. Each class is from 6pm until 7:30pm.

• Who: Children must be between the ages of 8 through 12 to participate.
• What: Beginners Woodshop Program. The instructor will guide participants step-by-step to create a Bird House.
• Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
• When: Mondays, October 2, 16, 23, and 30, from 6pm until 7:30pm.

• Who: Open to all children ages 4 and 5.
• What: Little Kickers Clinic. All participants must have their own shin guards.
• Where: Soccer field at Wheeler Park, which is located at 234 West Stimpson Avenue.
• When: The Clinic will run for eight (8) weeks beginning on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Arrive at the park at 9am.
• How: Registration deadline is September 1, 2023. Registration fee is $50 for residents, and $60 for non-residents. The registration fee includes a one-time annual $6 insurance fee (if this fee has not already been paid with another program). All participants must have their own shin guards. Register online here.
