Mayor’s Youth Commission 2024 2nd Annual Color Run

Mayor Derek Armstead, The City of Linden and the Mayor’s Youth Commission Scholarship Committee invite you to participate in Linden’s Color Run!

Our color walk/run features a designated 2-mile course in which participants are doused with color at various color stations at every half mile interval, ending with one final color celebration at the finish line! Everyone receives an individual color packet, face painting and a picture with color run backdrop (bring your smartphone)! A Food vendor will be there too!!!! PARTICIPANT DROP-OFF FOR THE COLOR RUN WILL BE ON SUMMIT STREET.

  • What – Walk or run with us! Also, enjoy face painting, food trucks and incredible music!

    • Date – Saturday, May 18, 2024. Rain date is May 19th.
    • Time – In-person registration is from from 8:30am – 9:45am. Race starts at 10:30am sharp!
  • Where – Wilson Pond – 1100 Summit Street.
  • Why – All proceeds will be used toward scholarships granted to Linden students!

    • A $35 in-person registration fee can be paid if you choose register in person.

Linden Fire Department to Host Annual Junior Fire Academy 2023

Registration for the Linden Fire Department’s Junior Fire Academy is now open! “The Junior Fire Academy provides an opportunity to educate the recruits about the Linden Fire Department, the services we provide and enlighten them on the possibility of a future career in firefighting,” said Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Brady.

  • Who: Available to Linden students graduating 7th and 8th grades.
  • What: Linden Fire Department Junior Fire Academy. Learn about the Linden Fire Department and explore a future career in Firefighting! Receive basic training in physical fitness, department operations, fire science, HazMat, first-aid and CPR. Demonstrations include Engine and Ladder Truck Operations, Rope Rescue, Car Extrication, HazMat and more!
  • When: June 26 through June 30, 2023 from 8am until 3pm.

Spring Tennis Lessons

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation, and USTA Certified Pro tennis instructor Tony Labonte are pleased to present Spring Tennis Lessons. Youth and Adult sessions will be offered.

  • Who: Ages 6 and up.
  • What: Spring tennis lessons with games, contests and prizes! Classes will run for six (6) weeks. The classes are designated by age range. Click here to view program flyer detailing class times for various age groups. Loaner racquets provided.
  • Where:
    • Tuesday classes will be held at Memorial Park, which is located between South Wood Avenue and Lower Road.
    • Saturday classes will be held at Wilson Park, which is located at 1113 Summit Terrace.
  • When:
    • Tuesday classes: May 9, 16, 23, 30, June 6 and 13.
    • Saturday classes: May 6, 13, 20, 27, June 3 and 10.

  • How: Youth Session is $75. Adult Session is $85. Additional $10 fee for non-residents. Loaner racquets provided. To view full program description and register online, click here. Annual Easter Egg Hunt 2023!

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks and Recreation are pleased to present the 2023 Annual Easter Egg Hunt!

Due to the predicted inclement weather on Saturday, April 1, 2023, the Easter Egg Hunt at Wilson Park is cancelled. We look forward to having it on the scheduled rain date, Saturday, April 8, 2023.

  • Who: For children ages 12 and under.
  • When: Rain date: Saturday, April 8, from 12pm until 2pm.
  • Where: Wilson Park, which is located behind the High School Academy Building.
  • How: Please bring your own Easter basket, or a bag can be provided.

Atlantic City Bus Trip

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer a day trip to Caesars Casino in Atlantic City. Round-trip bus ride and $20 voucher included. Photo I.D. required to attend.

  • Who: For ages 21 and up. Photo I.D. required to attend.
  • What: Day trip to Caesars Casino in Atlantic City.
  • When & Where:
    • April 11, 2023 at 10am.
    • The bus will depart at 10am from the 7th Ward Building, which is located on Tremley Point Road and the corner of Main Street.
  • How: $40 fee, includes round-trip bus ride and $20 voucher. An additional $6 annual service fee will be added to the fee, if not already paid for the year. Photo I.D. required to attend. In person registration is available 9am until 4pm at the JTG Center (330 Helen Street) or the Linden Multi-Purpose Center (1025 John Street).

City of Linden Annual Dog License

The City of Linden requires all dogs six months and older to be licensed. To obtain a dog license, written proof of valid rabies vaccination is required. Dog licenses available April 1, 2023.

  • Dog License Fee:
    • $13 for non-spayed/non-neutered.
    • $10 spayed/neutered (proof required).
