Food Distribution Event on Saturday, April 17th @ 8am

The Union County Board of Commissioners, the Village Super Market of Springfield Township, New Jersey, and Gargiulo Produce are providing a drive through food distribution event to all Union County residents affected by COVID-19 on Saturday, April 17th. Event Details

  • First 1,200 vehicles will receive boxes of produce and shelf-stable food on a first come first served basis.
  • One food distribution per vehicle, while supplies last.
  • Please make sure to clear out the vehicle’s trunk prior to arrival to make room for food bags.
  • Refrigerate any perishable items shortly after distribution.
  • Bring one (1) proof of NJ residency, such as a utility bill, driver’s license, ID card, etc.
  • Event will take place rain or shine.

The Mentalist; Virtual Magic & Mind Reading With Kent Axell

When we say the Mentalist, we’re not talking about the show. A mentalist is a magician of the mind, specializing in audience connections through a conjuror form of mind reading and psychic entertainment. The mentalist will perform directly with the audience from start to finish.

The show is 100% interactive! Everyone gets involved in a fun and friendly way. Kent Axell is an NYC/ LA/ Las Vegas based Mentalist & Magician. Kent has directed the highest rated close-up magic show in NYC “A Taste of Magic”, consulted for TV show “Brain Games”, and narrated the “Maximum Entertainment” audio book through Vanishing Inc.

FEMA COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics

The Union County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce the County of Union will be holding FEMA vaccination clinics for the COVID-19 Pfizer Vaccine during the next two weeks for residents 16 years and older in Linden.

  • Make an appointment online by clicking here. If you need assistance making an appointment, please call the Mayor’s office at (908) 474-8493 Monday through Friday 9am until 5pm, and someone will help you make the appointment.
  • Proof of residency is required.
  • Clinics will be held at the Dunn Sports Center, 600 Pearl Street, Elizabeth NJ.
  • Currently, appointments are being scheduled for April 8th, 9th and 10th.

COVID-19 Updates

All NJ Residents Ages 16 and Over will be Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccines Beginning April 19  

All New Jersey residents age 16 and over will be eligible to make an appointment for a coronavirus vaccine beginning on April 19th, Governor Phil Murphy announced on Monday. There are currently 1.8 million fully vaccinated people in New Jersey, said Governor Murphy.

New Jersey Loosens COVID-19 Travel Restrictions 

“While the pandemic is not over, our vaccination program and updated CDC guidance have made it possible for vaccinated individuals to resume travel without quarantine,” said Governor Murphy“New Jersey residents should still exercise caution in traveling and follow all public health rules and regulations as the end of the pandemic comes into view.”

“With the protection of COVID-19 vaccines, many New Jerseyans are eager to enjoy trips to visit families and friends they have missed over the past year,” said New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli. “While traveling, individuals should continue to take COVID-19 precautions–wearing a mask, avoiding crowds, physically distancing, and washing hands frequently.”

COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics

The County of Union will hold vaccination clinics on April 8th, April 9th and April 10th for residents of Linden. If you are a resident of Linden, you may call 908-613-7829 to set up an appointment to receive the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccination. Proof of residency is required. Please call today.

April 12, 2021 Zoning Board of Adjustment Meeting Notice

The City of Linden, Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting has been scheduled for Monday, April 12, 2021 at 7pm. The Meeting will be conducted electronically. Attendance will be via RingCentral due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Official action will be taken and portions of the meeting may be held in executive session.

Members of the public who may be attending are on mute until the public hearing or during the  public comment portion of the meeting. If you wish to be recognized please use the raised hand icon, in the program, to identify yourself. You will then give your name and address. Failure to do so, will result in you being muted, and not recognized further. If you are registered more than once you will only be recognized to speak only  one time, under your first registration. When public comment is opened, the ability to register will be closed. The Zoning Board Agenda and all other relevant documents will be posted on the City of Linden website.

Members of the public can submit questions or comments in writing no later than 2pm on both meeting days here or by fax at (908) 474-8497. Please include your name and address in the correspondence and the subject of  the email should be “public meeting comment or question”.

These meetings of the Linden Zoning Board of Adjustment were called pursuant to the provisions of the Open Public Meetings Law. Notice of this meeting was sent via email to the Local Source, The Star Ledger and the Home News Tribune on Thursday, April 8, 2021. In addition, copies of this notice were posted on the bulletin board and the main entrance to City Hall.

Notice RE Special Meeting of the Linden City Council on Tuesday, April 6th, 2021

A Special Meeting of the Linden City Council has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 6pm. The meeting will be conducted electronically through RingCentral due to the Health Emergency caused by the COVID 19 pandemic. Official action will be taken and portions of the meeting may be held in Executive Session. The purpose of the meeting is as follows:

  • Matters pertaining to the Redevelopment of Linden Harmony and West Price Street projects
  • Financial agreements for Linden Harmony and West Price Street redevelopment projects
  • Matters pertaining to the Board of Health
  • Personnel/Investigative matter

There will be an executive session beginning at 6pm. The public meeting will not begin until 6:30pm. Members of the public will not be let into the RingCentral webinar, until that time. Thereupon Council will consider resolutions and ordinances for introduction. The Public Comment period will follow. Following the Public Comment period, there will be a second executive session, after which no public action will be taken.

DPW Will Be Closed on Friday for Good Friday

DPW asks that all residents check their collection schedules as most of the City’s collection days have been moved up. Specifically, Thursday’s collection is today, Wednesday March 31st, and Friday’s collection is tomorrow, Thursday April 1st.

The Recycling Center @ 2 Donaldson Place and Bulk Trash drop-off at the DPW complex will be closed Friday also, but will reopen as usual on Saturday, April 3rd.
