2024 Spring Soccer League

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2024 Spring Soccer League. Register early to secure a spot on a team!

  • Who: Open to all children ages 6 through 12.
  • What: Outdoor soccer. All participants must have their own shin guards.
  • Where: Wheeler Park Turf Field, which is located at 234 West Stimpson Avenue. The League will be held on the Soccer Field, entrance on West Stimpson Avenue.
  • When: The League begins on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
  • How: Registration deadline is April 3, 2024. After deadline, all registrants must register by calling 908-474-8600, and a waiting list will be established. Registration fee is $50 for residents, and $60 for non-residents. A one-time annual $6 insurance fee will be added to your total registration fee, per child, if this has not already been paid for with another program. All participants must have their own shin guards. Register online here, or register in person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9:30am until 7pm. All locations accept checks, money orders, Visa and Mastercard. No refunds once the League begins. For more information, call (908) 474-8600. Please note: all new “First Time” participants must bring the following original documents at the time of registration and we will make copies:
    • Child’s original birth certificate.
    • Household bill showing proof of residency.
    • Diver’s License or photo ID of parent/guardian signing up their child.

2024 Little Kickers Spring Clinic

  • Who: Open to all children ages 4 and 5.

  • Where: Instructional Clinic will be held at Wheeler Park, which is located at 234 West Stimpson Avenue. Clinic located on the Soccer Field, entrance on West Stimpson Avenue.
  • When: The Little Kickers Clinic begins on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 9am. Clinic will run for eight (8) Saturdays: April 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11, 18, 25 and June 1.

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation, and USTA Certified Pro tennis instructor Tony Labonte are pleased to present Spring Tennis Lessons. Youth and Adult sessions will be offered.

  • Who: Ages 5 and up. Youth and adult classes designated by age range.
  • What: Spring tennis lessons with games, contests and prizes! Classes will run for six (6) weeks. The classes are designated by age range. Click here to view program flyer detailing class times for various age groups. Loaner racquets provided.

    • Tuesday classes will meet at Memorial Park (2600 South Wood Avenue) on May 7, 14, 21, 28, June 4 and 11.
    • Saturday classes will meet at Wilson Park (1113 Summit Terrace) on May 4, 11, 18, 25, June 1 and 8.

Dance

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Dance, directed by Chafonda Colvin. Unleash your moves!

  • Who: Ages 4 through 18.
  • What: Dance classes, directed by Chafonda Colvin. Unleash your moves! Classes include Hip-Hop, Jazz and Ballet.
  • Where: Linden High School, which is located at 121 West St. Georges Avenue.
  • When: March 4 through June 15.
    • Mondays, from 5pm until 8pm.
    • Wednesdays, from 5pm until 8pm.
    • Thursdays, from 5pm until 5:45pm.
  • How: Register January 9 through March 3, 2024. Click here to register. Cost is a $50 one-time payment fee, plus a $6 insurance fee.

Adult Pilates

  • What: Adult Pilates. Provides stability, mobility, and flexibility through concentrated movements. Improves postural alignment and helps correct muscular imbalances.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Every Monday beginning January 22 through April 1, from 6:30pm until 7:30pm.

Senior Zumba Gold

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Senior Zumba Gold.

  • Who: For Linden senior residents. Participants should consult with a physician prior to participation.
  • What: Perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower intensity, with easy-to-follow Zumba choreography. The main focus is on balance, range of motion and coordination.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Fridays, January 12 through March 22, 2024 from 9:30am until 10:30am.
    • No class on February 16, 2024.

Men’s Basketball League

  • Who: Men’s League for ages 18 and older.
  • What: The Men’s Basketball League is designed to instill physical activity, community engagement and healthy competition among men of all ages and skill levels.
  • Where: Linden Multi-Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: Start date is January 23, 2024. The League will run for eight (8) weeks on Tuesday nights, with two (2) weeks of playoffs.

Youth Arts & Crafts

  • What: Have your child enjoy a free art-filled program! Each session will be focused on unique and enjoyable crafts. Let their creativity blossom.

  • When: January through March on the second and fourth Thursday of the month, from 3:30pm until 5pm.
    • January 11 and 25.
    • February 8 and 22.
    • March 14 and 28.
