Kids Canvas Paint Class

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Kids Canvas Paint Class.

  • Who: For kids ages 5 through 12.
  • What: Kids canvas paint classes. All supplies included. The painting classes are guided with the instructor showing every step. Small color copies of the painting will be handed out to the children for reference. Background music will be available to create a more creative and tranquil atmosphere for the young artists.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: July 15, 2025 and August 12, 2025 from 6pm until 7:30pm.
  • How: $15 fee per class. Registration is limited to one class per month. To view full class description and register online, click here. 2025 Linden Tigers Summer Softball Camp

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer the 2025 Linden Tigers Summer Softball Camp.

  • Who: For girls ages 5 through 14.
  • What: Softball Camp for girls, with instructor Peter Naumowicz (LHS Varsity Softball Coach), Michele Diaz (LHS Assistant Varsity Coach), Eric Scheidemann (LSH J.V. Girls Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach) and LHS players as assistant staff.
  • Where: P.A.L. Fields, which is located at 75 Lower Road.
  • When: 9am until 12pm, from July 21 through July 25.

2025 John T. Gregorio Basketball Camp

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer the 2025 John T. Gregorio Basketball Camp.

  • Who: For 3rd through 8th grade, Linden residents only.
  • What: Basketball Camp. Campers with learn basketball fundamentals, ball handling skills, footwork techniques, rebounding, shooting skills, dribbling skills, and offensive and defensive strategies.
  • Where: Linden High School Gymnasium, which is located at 121 West St. Georges Avenue.
  • When: June 30 through July 3, from 9am until 2pm (bring lunch).
  • How: Fee $30, registration required. Registration deadline is June 27, 2025. To view full program description and register online, click here.   • What: A Juneteenth Cookout. Free event! Come one, come all to a day of culture, freedom, and independence. Let’s celebrate and enjoy, with BBQ eats! Activities, games, prizes, game truck, ice cream, and more!

Postponed – Movies in the Park

Movies in the Park initially scheduled for June 18 has been postponed. The new date and time is Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 6:30pm until 9pm at Peach Orchard Park.

  • What: Come and enjoy the Summer Entertainment Series, events include live music of different genres, Legends of Linden, and comedy!
  • When: The 2025 Summer Entertainment Series will be held on varying nights from May 22 through September 25, 2025.
    • For all Concerts, doors open at 6pm.
    • Concerts begin at 7pm.
    • All House Music events begin at 5pm.
    • September 6 event starts at 2pm until 7pm.
  • Where: Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade, which is located at 400 North Wood Avenue.
  • How: Free event. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional seating available for lawn chairs as space permits. Father’s Day 2-on-2 Basketball Tournament

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation invite you to attend the Father’s Day 2-on-2 Basketball Tournament in collaboration with: youth legacy leaders.

  • Who: Children grades 5 through 12 with fathers/guardians.
  • What: Father’s Day 2-on-2 Basketball Tournament in collaboration with: youth legacy leaders. In our father’s day classic, children (boys/girls in grades 5 through 12) will team up with their fathers/guardians to compete against other families. Two games guaranteed! Substitutions are an option if the parent/guardian has more than one child attending. Come out and have fun!
  • Where: Wilson Park, which is located at 1100 Summit Terrace.
    • In the event of inclement weather, the location will change to the Linden Mutil-Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: Saturday, June 14, from 10:30am until 1:30pm.
    • Grades 5 and 6 at 10:30am.
    • Grades 7 and 8 at 11:30am.
    • High school at 12:30pm.

Self-Defense Class

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer a self-defense class hosted by the Linden Police Department. The self-defense community event taught by certified instructors will provide our residents the opportunity to learn essential standing and ground skills to stay safe and confident.

  • Who: Ages 18 and up.
  • What: Self-defense class hosted by the Linden Police Department. This class is open to all adults, including seniors, who want to learn practical skills to feel safer and confident. Participants should be able to engage in light physical activity, such as standing or basic movements, to fully benefit from the class. Seniors with more advanced mobility challenges are warmly invited to join as spectators.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 5pm until 7:30pm.

Summer XC – Track Conditioning Program

  • Who: Grades 6 through 12.
  • What: Summer XC/Track Conditioning Program. The focus of this program is to begin conditioning for the upcoming athletic year. There will be a focus on drills, stretches, strength training and running. Be sure to bring sneakers, athletic clothing and water!
  • When: 8am until 10am, Monday through Thursday (weather permitting), beginning July 7 through July 31, 2025.
  • Where: Linden Field House at Tiger Stadium, which is located at 700 West Curtis Street.
