Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Linden Opioid Eradication Initiative presents Linden Community 5K run/walk. Join us for a community 5K run/walk to raise awareness, support prevention, and promote healthier, stronger families in Linden and beyond.

  • Who: The Linden Community 5K run/walk is open to both runners and walkers. Linden and Non-Linden residents are welcome!

  • Who: Free entry, everyone is welcome!
  • What: Health and Wellness Fair. Free health services will be offered including blood pressure tests, blood sugar tests, DermaView sun damage skin analyzer, vision tests, hearing tests, bone density screenings, flu vaccinations and more! Free male and female cancer screenings for uninsured/underinsured. Tables with local health and wellness information, products and services. Enjoy prizes and giveaways, including a free six-page budget-friendly recipe booklet available for each attendee.
  • When: Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 11am until 2pm.
  • Where: School #1 Gym, which is located at 720 North Wood Avenue.

Breast Cancer Awareness

  • What: Breast Cancer Awareness. Hosted by Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway. Join us for an informative one hour presentation with Fiordaliza Gomez Ortiz, Clinical Nurse Navigator. She will cover breast cancer in both women and men. Learn about risk factors (for you and your family), signs and symptoms, self breast awareness, screening recommendations, how breast cancer is diagnosed and treated, and practical steps you can take to reduce your risk. Knowledge is power, early detection saves lives! Whether you’re looking to learn for yourself or a loved one, this presentation offers valuable information for everyone. “Questions are encouraged, come ready to learn and participate!”

  • What: 20th Anniversary of the Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade – Fan Appreciation Day. Arrive early for refreshments and best seating. Featuring the Sensational Soul Cruisers*.
  • When: Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 7pm.
  • Where: Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade, which is located at 400 North Wood Avenue.
  • How: Free event. Come early for refreshments and best seating. Free refreshments will be available while supplies last. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional seating available for lawn chairs as space permits. In the event of possible rain, call 908-474-8604 after 3pm to verify if the event will go on as scheduled.   • What: Perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class. This program recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity, easy-to-follow pace. The main focus is on balance, range of motion, and coordination.

  • When: Fridays, September 11, 2026 through November 20, 2026 from 9:30am until 10:30am.

  • What: Fit 4 Life; a free program to promote a healthy lifestyle within our senior citizen community. This program includes a focus on warm-ups, balance, strength training and stretching exercises.

Kids Canvas Paint Class

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Kids Canvas Paint Class.

  • Who: For kids ages 5 through 12.
  • What: Kids canvas paint classes. All supplies included. The painting classes are guided with the instructor showing every step. Small color copies of the painting will be handed out to the children for reference. Background music will be available to create a more creative and tranquil atmosphere for the young artists.

Teen Pilates

  • Who: Ages 13 through 17.
  • What: Teen Pilates. Whether you’re crushing it on the field, in the gym, at dance, or spending hours with homework and screens, this class will help you unlock tight muscles. It will also help with improving flexibility and strengthening your core. Expect a fun mix of stretching, mobility drills, and core work designed to help you fell stronger, recover better, and move more freely!

  • When: Tuesdays, September 8, 2026 through September 29, 2026 from 4:30pm until 5:30pm.

Senior Citizen Water Aerobics

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Senior Citizen Water Aerobics.

  • Who: For Linden Senior Residents.
  • What: Seniors will enjoy the benefit of low-impact water aerobics led by a certified instructor. Swimwear is required, and swim caps are recommended.
  • Where: Rahway YMCA, which is located at 1564 Irving Street, Rahway, NJ 07065. Transportation will be provided, drop off and pick up will be from the John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street. The bus will be leaving promptly at 8:30am.
  • When: Tuesdays, September 8, 2026 through November 17, 2026 from 9am until 10am.

Adult Pilates
