Important Reminder from Linden DPW

The Department of Public Works will be closed on Monday, September 4th, in observance of Labor Day. There will be NO trash collection or grass collection this week!

This closure will affect the following schedule changes for the rest of the week:

  • Brown cart – paper & cardboard materials will be collected on Tuesday, September 5th in Districts 1, 2, 3, 9 and 10.
  • Brown cart – paper & cardboard materials will be collected on Wednesday, September 6th in Districts 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.    
  • All Business garbage collection will also be on Wednesday, September 6th.
  • Garbage collection for Districts 1, 2, 3, 9 and 10 will be on Thursday, September 7th.
  • Garbage collection for Districts 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 will be on Friday, September 8th.
  • There will be NO trash collection or grass collection this week.

Community Impact Festival

  • What: Community Impact Festival with music acts including featured artist Nisa F. (the “Janet Jackson of Rap”), a car show, free food, career fair workshops, mind-body wellness activities, community resources, games and prizes, face painting and convenient DMV services (from 10am until 2pm).
  • Where: Woodrow Wilson Memorial Pond Park (1100-1198 Summit Terrace).
  • When: Saturday, September 9, from 11am until 4pm.
    • Rain Date: September 10, 2023.
    • Please note: DMV services will proceed as scheduled on September 9, from 10am until 2pm, rain or shine.

  • Where: School #1, which is located at 729 North Wood Avenue. Enter parking lot on Gibbons Street.
  • How: For Linden residents only (proof required or current library card accepted). Child must be present, while supplies last.

Self Defense Clinic

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation and Optimum Human Performance are pleased to offer a six-week Women’s Self Defense Clinic with Shihan Rasheed.

  • Who: Linden residents only.
  • What: Six-week Women’s Self Defense Clinic with Shihan Rasheed. The Self Defense Clinic will empower participants with self-confidence and a positive attitude. Participants will learn how to protect themselves and how to avoid panic attacks, all while learning how to become stronger, increase fitness, flexibility and focus.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Six-week program. Every Monday, from September 11 through October 23, 2023. The Clinic will meet from 6pm until 7:30pm.

Children’s Flu & COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Linden Board of Health and the Linden Board of Education, in partnership with St. Georges Pharmacies are providing a Children’s Flu and COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic. Supplies are limited, register online in advance to reserve your dose.

  • What: Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations. Supplies are limited.

Notice RE Special Meeting of the Board Of Alcoholic Beverage Control

A Special Meeting of the Linden Board of Alcoholic Beverage Control has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 4:00 PM. Meeting will be held in the Council Caucus Room, 301 North Wood Ave., Linden, NJ.

The purpose of the meeting is as follows:

  1. Pre-Hearing on Charges against License #2009-33-037-009, Nocturno Inc. t/a Menga Lounge.

Official action will be taken. Portion of the meeting may be held in executive session.

This Special Meeting was called pursuant to the provisions of the Open Public Meetings Law. Notice of this meeting was sent via e-mail to the Local Source, The Star Ledger and the Home News Tribune on Thursday, August 10, 2023. In addition, copies of this notice were posted on the bulletin board in City Hall.
