Toys for Tots

The Linden Fire Department, in conjunction with the Linden FMBA Local# 34 and 234 are holding a Toy Drive with the US Marines Toys for Tots Program. Accepting donations now through December 17, 2025.

Holiday House Decorating Contest

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Linden Cultural & Heritage Committee present the Holiday House Decorating Contest! Let’s light up Linden with holiday spirit!

All homes in Linden that have their holiday lights on from December 12 to December 20 will be judged. No registration required. Winners to be announced on December 28, 2025. Winning homes will be on the City of Linden website, and pictures will be shared on Linden’s Facebook and Nextdoor pages. Gift cards will be delivered to the winning homes. Homes that have won in the past two years will not be eligible. Email here to have your home judged.

Notice to Residents: Please Help Reduce Water Usage

Voluntary Water Usage Reduction

The City of Linden is asking all residents and businesses to voluntarily reduce water usage at this time. There is no need for alarm, and there is no emergency being declared. This is simply a precautionary step to ensure our water system continues operating at its highest level for everyone in our community.

By working together and being mindful of water use, the Linden community can make a positive impact and help maintain system stability.

Ways You Can Help:

  • Reduce shower time when possible
  • Run dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads
  • Limit outdoor water use (hoses, sprinklers, etc.)
  • Turn off faucets when not in active use

We truly appreciate your cooperation. Small efforts from all of us will go a long way in supporting Linden and preserving our shared resources.

The Mayor’s Senior Christmas Dinner

Mayor Derek Armstead and the City of Linden invite you to The Mayor’s Senior Christmas Dinner. Free event with food, music, entertainment, and door prizes!

  • What: The Mayor’s Senior Christmas Dinner with special guest Senate President Nick Scutari. Free event with food, music, entertainment, and door prizes!
  • When: Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 3pm until 5pm.
    • 2pm bus pick up at Ann Ferguson Tower.
    • 2:15pm bus pick up at Muraski Tower.
    • 2:30pm bus pick up at JTG Center.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • How: Free event. Bus transportation will be provided, please call to reserve your spot on the bus. Registration is required, to register call the Mayor’s office at 908-474-8495 or scan the QR code below and complete the form. Registration closes December 17, 2025. First come, first served. JTG Center can accommodate a maximum of 280 guests.

City of Linden 2025 Tree Lighting

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Cultural & Heritage Committee invite you to attend the 2025 City of Linden Annual Holiday Tree Lighting. Enjoy live entertainment, holiday music, refreshments and meet Santa!

  • What: City of Linden Annual Holiday Tree Lighting. Enjoy live entertainment, holiday music, refreshments and meet Santa! Tree lighting will begin at 6pm in front of City Hall. After the tree lighting, Santa will arrive and will proceed to the Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade for photo ops and goodie bags for children. Tickets will be given to children to have a chance to win a bicycle. The Grinch and other characters will also be available for photo ops.
  • When: Friday, December 5, 2025.
    • Horse and Carriage rides from 5pm through 8pm.
    • Tree lighting with performances of the Linden High School Brass Ensemble, Madrigals, Touring Troupe and Dance Company will begin at 6pm.
  • Where: In front of Linden City Hall, which is located at 301 North Wood Avenue.
    • After the tree lighting, families are invited to the Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade (400 North Wood Avenue) for refreshments, photos with Santa and children 11 and under get a chance to win a bike and goodie bag from Santa.

2026 Indoor Soccer

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2026 Indoor Soccer Program. Register early to secure a spot on a team!

  • Who: Open to all children ages 6 through 12.
  • What: Indoor soccer. All participants must have their own shin guards.
  • Where: All League games are played at the Linden Multi Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: The League begins on Saturday, January 17, 2026
    • Start time/hours varies with team assignment.
  • How: Registration deadline is December 30, 2025. After deadline, all registrants must register at the main office. A waiting list will be established after 40 registrants. Registration fee is $65 for residents, and $75 for non-residents. The registration fee includes a one-time annual $6 insurance fee. All participants must have their own shin guards. Register online here, or register in person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9am until 7pm. All locations accept checks, money orders, Visa and Mastercard. No Cash. No refunds once the League begins. For more information, call (908) 474-8600. Please note: all new “First Time” participants must bring the following original documents that will be verified at registration:
    • Child’s original birth certificate.
    • Household bill showing proof of residency.
    • Diver’s License or photo ID of parent/guardian signing up their child.

2026 Fall Little Kickers Clinic

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2026 Fall Little Kickers Clinic. Register early to secure a spot!

  • Who: Open to all children ages 4 and 5.
  • What: Indoor soccer. All participants must have their own shin guards.
  • Where: Instructional Clinic will be held at Linden Multi-Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: The Little Kickers Clinic begins on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 9am. Clinic will run for eight (8) Saturdays: January 17, 24, 31, February 7, 14, 21, 28, March 7.
  • How: Registration deadline is December 30, 2025. After deadline, all registrants must register by calling 908-474-8600 or 908-474-8627, and a waiting list will be established. Registration fee is $65 for residents, and $75 for non-residents. A one-time annual $6 insurance fee will be added to your total registration fee, per child, if this has not already been paid for with another program. All participants must have their own shin guards. Register online here, or register in person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9:30am until 7pm. No refunds once the Clinic begins. Co-ed Wrestling

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the Co-ed Wrestling Program.

  • Who: For ages 6 through 18.
  • What: Instruction on basic wrestling techniques and skills to improve one’s body awareness and overall confidence. All participants must have their own wrestling shoes. All skill levels are welcome.
  • When & Where: Program runs from December 2, 2025 through March 12, 2026.
  • How: $60 registration fee, plus a $6 insurance fee. All participants must have their own wrestling shoes. Register online here, or register in-person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9am until 7pm. All locations accept checks, money orders, Visa and Mastercard.
