Linden Public Schools Community Notices

Community notices that are sent to Linden Public Schools for distribution can be found on the Linden Public Schools by clicking here. The following notices were posted in the past week:

***These files are submitted to the Linden Public School District for distribution to our parents and guardians, as most of them benefit our community’s children. However, the Linden Public School District does not endorse any of the activities related to the files. Prior to signing your child up for any of these activities, clubs, or events, it is the parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to determine the appropriateness of the event. We send this message as nothing more than a public service.***

FEMA Assistance

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought overwhelming grief to many families. FEMA’s mission is to help people before, during and after disasters. They are dedicated to helping ease some of the financial stress and burden caused by the virus. FEMA is providing financial assistance for COVID-19-related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020.

FEMA’s Region 2 specialists, in the hardest-hit communities of New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, are working closely with stakeholder groups, enlisting their help with outreach to affected families and communities.

See these flyers in English and Spanish for information regarding financial assistance for funeral expenses. Applicants can register for assistance by calling (844) 684-6333.

FEMA is giving a presentation next week for organizations and community partners that would like an overview of our Funeral Assistance program. The presentation is on Wednesday, March 23rd, 2022 from 11am until 12pm and can be accessed via this link with passcode 220797. All interested should please reach out to fema-r2-ia@fema.dhs.gov and a calendar invite will be sent.

Project Graduation!

The future is exciting……and it is time to plan Project Graduation!!

As you may know, the goal of Project Graduation has always been to provide a safe environment for our Senior Class on their Graduation Night. It was created as a result of seven alcohol and other drug related teen deaths during the commencement season in 1979.

Linden’s Mayor’s Youth Commission has hosted Project Graduation for over 25 years. The pandemic kept us from hosting Project Graduation for the last two graduating classes, and it is finally time to get back to our usual traditions! Because the Class of 2022 missed so much time together in the last few years, this celebration will be special.

Please support this special celebration for the Linden High School Class of 2022 by donating here.

We thank you for your anticipated donations helping us provide a safe environment in which our seniors can celebrate Graduation together…. safe and sober.

Sandy Jackson, President of the Mayor’s Youth Commission

Pandemic Doubles the Need for Help – PSE&G Offers Support & Flexibility

COVID-19 has inflicted financial hardship on many of PSE&G’s customers and left them struggling to pay bills. Today, twice as many customers are seriously behind on their bills than before the pandemic. New Jersey’s grace period on utility disconnections ended on December 31, 2021. Customers at risk of utility service disconnection should enroll in a Deferred Payment Arrangement (DPA) and apply for payment assistance to avoid an interruption of their utility service.

Many more customers are now eligible for energy assistance programs that have been expanded with increased income limits.  PSE&G is offering more flexible payment options and new deferred payment arrangements (DPAs).
