New Jersey Audubon is hosting public programs for all ages at Hawk Rise Sanctuary. Bridge the gap between nature and technology.

  • Who: Appropriate for all ages.
  • What: New Jersey Audubon public program. Bridge the gap between nature and technology. Discuss the pros and cons of nature identification apps and use them as we walk the trails of Hawk Rise. Come dressed for the weather. Iced tea and lemonade will be served afterwards. This program will be led by Angus Macaulay, Teacher Naturalist.
  • Where: Hawk Rise Sanctuary, which is located on Range Road.
  • When: Sunday, May 7, from 1pm until 2pm.
  • How: Free program. To register, click here. Come dressed for the weather. The primary app for this program will be iNaturalist. You may consider installing this app in advance.

Spring Into Nature

New Jersey Audubon is hosting public programs for all ages at Hawk Rise Sanctuary. Spring is in the air. Come out to Hawk Rise to experience the sights, sounds, and smells of spring.

  • Who: Appropriate for all ages.
  • What: New Jersey Audubon public program. Plants and animals will be found and discussed throughout our walk through the sanctuary. Come dressed for the weather. Iced tea or hot tea will be served afterwards, depending on the weather. This program will be led by Angus Macaulay, Teacher Naturalist.
  • Where: Hawk Rise Sanctuary, which is located on Range Road.
  • When: Saturday, April 1, from 1pm until 2pm.

Senior Citizen Line Dancing

  • Who: For Linden senior residents.
  • What: Senior line dancing classes. Line dancing for seniors is a fun, healthy and rewarding activity and exercise. Dancing styles incorporated into the class include salsa, ballroom and country western.
  • When: Thursdays, April 13 through June 15, 2023, from 10:30am until 11:30am.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.

Kids Canvas Paint Class

Due to the popularity of this class, we are offering two dates per month to register your child for the class. Please choose one or the other. There are 15 slots per class and the classes fill quickly. Don’t be left out, register today!

  • Who: For kids ages 5 through 12.
  • What: Kids canvas paint classes. All supplies included. The painting classes are guided with the instructor showing every step. Small color copies of the painting will be handed out to the children for reference. Background music will be available to create a more creative and tranquil atmosphere for the young artists.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Due to the popularity of this class, we are offering two dates per month to register your child for the class. Please choose one or the other. Each class is from 6pm until 7:30pm.
    • April 11 or April 25 – Easter Bunny
    • May 9 or May 23 – Hot Air Balloon
    • June 13 or June 27 – Summer Picture

Senior Zumba Gold

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce that registration is open for Spring classes of Senior Zumba Gold.

  • Who: For Linden senior residents. Participants should consult with a physician prior to participation.
  • What: Perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower intensity, with easy-to-follow Zumba choreography.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Fridays, April 21 through June 23, 2023 from 10am until 11am.

Complete Fitness Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Complete Fitness.

  • Who: Open to all adults 18+ years of age.
  • What: Eight week fitness program that will develop and reinforce healthy lifestyles and behaviors. The Complete Fitness classes will allow participants to engage in a variety of physical fitness activities that will help to establish lifelong fitness goals.
  • Where: Linden Multi Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: The Complete Fitness program begins on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. The program will be held weekly on Wednesdays for eight weeks from 7pm until 8pm.
  • How: Program fee is $50, plus a $6 annual insurance fee. First time registrants must set up and account and pay an annual $6 registration fee. The City of Linden Step Team

  • What: The City of Linden’s traveling Step Team.
  • Where: Linden Multi-Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: Beginning on January 18, 2023, the Step Team will meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 6pm for eight (8) weeks.

2023 Indoor Soccer

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2023 Indoor Soccer Program. Register early to secure a spot on a team!

  • Who: Open to all children ages 6 through 12.
  • What: Indoor soccer. All participants must have their own shin guards.
  • Where: All League games are played at the Linden Multi Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: The League begins on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 10:15am.
  • How: Registration deadline is December 30, 2022. After deadline, all registrants must register at the main office and a waiting list will be established. Registration fee is $56 for residents, and $66 for non-residents. The registration fee includes a one-time annual $6 insurance fee. All participants must have their own shin guards. Register online here, or register in person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9am until 7pm.
