Public Notice for the Responses to Request For Proposals will be received by the Purchasing Agent of the City of Linden, at Linden City Hall, 301 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ 07036  Purchasing Department, on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 10am prevailing time for the following described proposal:

  1. Linden Opioid Abatement and Substance Abuse Eradication and Substance Abuse Eradication and Redirection Program-Lead Consultants

The RFP is on file at the Office of the Purchasing Agent, City Hall, 301 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ, 07036, or submission packages may be obtained on the City of Linden’s website by clicking here.

RFP’s must be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS, and bearing the name and address of the proposer on outside; addressed to the Purchasing Agent, Jessica Slawinski, City of Linden, City Hall, 301 North Wood Ave., Linden, NJ 07036.

All proposers shall conform to the intention and provisions of affirmative action in Public Contracts Laws of the State of New Jersey, R.S. 10:2-1 of 7/23/75, Assembly Bill No. 2227.

Proposers are required to comply with requirements of N.J.S.A. 10:5-31 et. seq. and N.J.A.C. 17:27.

Council reserves the right to reject any and all proposals should it be in the interest of the City to do so and to waive any informalities in the proposals.

Robot Makers: Start Making Moves

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Robot Makers: Start Making Moves; a STEM program hosted by Little Ivy Academy.

  • Who: Second through fifth graders.
  • What: Robot Makers: Start Making Moves; a STEM program hosted by Little Ivy Academy. Your child and their lab mates will learn how gears work together, to program a sensor and more! Participants will make motors move and gears whir when they take control of the building and programming of their moving and sensing robots! Utilizing the LEGO Mindstorms robotics system as well as coding language, lab teams will discover some of the basic engineering and programming concepts. Participants will need to turn their own ideas into moving robotic creations!
  • When: Mondays, March 25 through May 6, 2024 from 4pm until 5pm.
  • Where: Linden Multi Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt 2024!

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks and Recreation invite you to attend the 2024 Annual Easter Egg Hunt! Look for the Easter Bunny, he’ll be hopping around, visiting all sections of Linden after the Egg Hunt! Click here to view the Easter Bunny Route.

  • Who: For children ages 12 and under.
  • What: Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Look for the Easter Bunny, he’ll be hopping around, visiting all sections of Linden after the Egg Hunt!
  • When: Saturday, March 30, 2024. Check-in at 11am, event time is from 12pm until 2pm.
  • Where: Wilson Park, which is located at 1100 Summit Terrace (behind the High School Academy).
  • How: Bags will be provided. Eggs and bags will be available while supplies last. For more information, please call the Linden Department of Recreation at 908-474-8600.

Complete Fitness Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Complete Fitness.

  • Who: Open to all adults 18+ years of age.
  • What: Six week fitness program. Complete Fitness will develop and reinforce healthy lifestyles and behaviors. The Complete Fitness classes will allow participants to engage in a variety of physical fitness activities that will help to establish lifelong fitness goals.
  • Where: Linden Multi Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: The Complete Fitness program begins on Thursday, April 11, 2024. The program will be held weekly on Thursdays for six weeks from 6pm until 7pm.
  • How: Program fee is $50, plus a $6 annual insurance fee. First time registrants must set up and account and pay an annual $6 registration fee. Register online here, or register in person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9am until 7pm. Food & Clothing Drive

Greater Mount Moriah Baptist Church is hosting a Food and Clothing Drive on the fourth Saturday of every month.

  • What: Winter Food & Clothing Drive.
  • When: Fourth Saturday of every month from 10am until 12pm. Come join this Saturday, March 23, 2024.
    • The Food and Clothing drive will be held on the third Saturday of the month in November.
  • Where: Greater Mount Moriah Baptist Church, which is located at 24 East 14th Street.

Hometown Heroes – 2024

Mission

Honor and recognize City of Linden servicemen and women and their families who have served or given their lives to our country in the United States Armed Forces.

Application Requirements

In order to be considered for a banner, the nominee must meet the following requirements:

  • Lived in the City of Linden at some point in their lifetime.
  • Served in one of the following branches: Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine.
  • Meet one of the following criteria: honorably discharged Veteran, died in the line of duty

Banner Design, Time Frame & Location

Banners are approximately 29”x 55”, vinyl material and feature a photo of the Veteran, with their name, rank, branch of service, and dates of active service. Banners will be displayed on poles along Wood Avenue for a designated period of time. Banner locations will be selected randomly and specific display locations cannot be requested. A branch of service circular logo will adorn the banner over the veteran’s image. The banners will contain the logos of Linden Special Improvement District, the Linden Board of Education, the City of Linden, The Linden Society for Historic Preservation, and the Linden Public Library.

Banner Photograph (Required)

Please secure a photograph of the veteran you would like to use on the banner, and submit the photograph with the application. The better quality photograph, the better the reproduction on the banner. We will accept a digital photograph, preferably a service portrait.
