2026 Spring Wrestling Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2026 Spring Wrestling Program. Our program has produced League and State champions! All skill levels are welcome.

  • Who: For children Kindergarten through Grade 12.
  • What: Instruction on basic wrestling techniques and skills to improve one’s body awareness and overall confidence. All participants must have their own wrestling shoes. All skill levels are welcome.
  • When: Program runs from March 17 through June 11, 2026. Practice will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm until 8pm.
    • No practice on days that schools are closed.
  • Where: McManus Middle School Gymnasium, which is located at 300 Edgewood Road.
  • How: $25 registration fee, plus a $6 insurance fee. All participants must have their own wrestling shoes. Register online here, or register in-person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9:30am until 7:30pm. All locations accept checks, money orders, Visa and Mastercard. No cash. No refunds once the session begins. For more information, call (908) 474-8600. Please note, all new “First Time” participants must bring the following original documents at the time of registration and we will make copies:
    • Child’s original birth certificate.
    • Household bill showing proof of residency.
    • Diver’s License or photo ID of parent/guardian signing up their child.

Senior Lunch Cruise

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks and Recreation, are pleased to present the Cornucopia Senior Lunch Cruise.

  • What: Cornucopia Senior Lunch Cruise. Enjoy beautiful views and an extraordinary sailing experience with The Cornucopia Cruise Line!
  • Where: 7th Ward Building, which is located at 2907 Tremley Point Road. Arrive at 10:15am sharp.
  • When: Wednesday, May 20 from 12pm until 3pm.
  • How: $85 for Recreation Members, $100 for Non Members. A partial payment is required to hold your seat. However, full payment will be accepted. All balances must be paid by April 24, 2026. Payment methods are checks, money orders, Visa, or Mastercard only. Membership must be current to attend. No Refunds. 2026 Spring Tennis Lessons

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation, and USTA Certified Pro tennis instructor Tony Labonte are pleased to present Spring Tennis Lessons. Youth and Adult sessions will be offered.

  • Who: Ages 4 and up. Youth and adult classes designated by age range.
  • What: Spring tennis lessons with games, contests and prizes! Classes will run for six (6) weeks. The classes are designated by age range. Click here to view program flyer detailing class times for various age groups. Loaner racquets provided.
  • When & Where:

    • Tuesday and Thursday classes will meet at Memorial Park (2600 South Wood Avenue) on April 28, 30, May 5, 7, 12, 14,19, 21, 26, 28, June 2 and 4.
    • Saturday classes will meet at Wilson Park (1113 Summit Terrace) on April 25, May 2, 9, 16, 30 and June 6.
    • No class on Memorial Day Saturday, May 23.
  • How: Youth Session is $90. Adult Session is $100. Additional $10 fee for non-residents. Loaner racquets provided. To view full program description and register online, click here. City of Linden Warming Centers 2026

Below is a list of the City of Linden’s Warming Centers for 2026. These are the municipal buildings that are open and available to the public during their normal operating hours. Nothing else is required.

  • Linden Public Library – 31 East Henry Street
    • Operating Hours: Monday and Wednesday from 9am until 9pm. Tuesday and Thursday from 9am until 5pm. Friday from 9:30am until 5pm. Saturday from 9am until 5pm.
  • John T. Gregorio Recreation Center – 330 Helen Street
    • Operating Hours: Monday through Friday from 8:30am until 4:30pm. *Closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Linden Multi-Purpose Center – 1025 John Street
    • Operating Hours: Monday through Friday from 9am until 8pm. *Closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Gary Letizia Memorial Blood Drive

Mayor Derek Armstead, the Linden Fire Department, and New York Blood Services invite you to donate blood to save a life. In honor of the late Gary Letizia. Be the reason for someone’s tomorrow.

  • What: Blood drive. Gary Letizia was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 68. If not for the countless gallons of donated blood that kept him valiantly battling cancer, we wouldn’t have been able to create those extra memories that final year. Please consider donating so that someone else’s loved one may receive that same precious gift of time. – Dr. Matt Letizia. Save lives, Get Coin. Join us to give blood and get the Gary Letizia Memorial Donor Coin as our thanks.
  • Where: 7th Ward Recreation Center, which is located at 2897 Tremeley Point Road.
  • When: Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 1pm until 7pm.

Holiday House Decorating Contest

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Linden Cultural & Heritage Committee present the Holiday House Decorating Contest! Let’s light up Linden with holiday spirit!

All homes in Linden that have their holiday lights on from December 12 to December 20 will be judged. No registration required. Winners to be announced on December 28, 2025. Winning homes will be on the City of Linden website, and pictures will be shared on Linden’s Facebook and Nextdoor pages. Gift cards will be delivered to the winning homes. Homes that have won in the past two years will not be eligible. Email here to have your home judged.

The Mayor’s Senior Christmas Dinner

Mayor Derek Armstead and the City of Linden invite you to The Mayor’s Senior Christmas Dinner. Free event with food, music, entertainment, and door prizes!

  • What: The Mayor’s Senior Christmas Dinner with special guest Senate President Nick Scutari. Free event with food, music, entertainment, and door prizes!
  • When: Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 3pm until 5pm.
    • 2pm bus pick up at Ann Ferguson Tower.
    • 2:15pm bus pick up at Muraski Tower.
    • 2:30pm bus pick up at JTG Center.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • How: Free event. Bus transportation will be provided, please call to reserve your spot on the bus. Registration is required, to register call the Mayor’s office at 908-474-8495 or scan the QR code below and complete the form. Registration closes December 17, 2025. First come, first served. JTG Center can accommodate a maximum of 280 guests.

2026 Indoor Soccer

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2026 Indoor Soccer Program. Register early to secure a spot on a team!

  • Who: Open to all children ages 6 through 12.
  • What: Indoor soccer. All participants must have their own shin guards.
  • Where: All League games are played at the Linden Multi Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: The League begins on Saturday, January 17, 2026
    • Start time/hours varies with team assignment.
  • How: Registration deadline is December 30, 2025. After deadline, all registrants must register at the main office. A waiting list will be established after 40 registrants. Registration fee is $65 for residents, and $75 for non-residents. The registration fee includes a one-time annual $6 insurance fee. All participants must have their own shin guards. Register online here, or register in person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9am until 7pm. Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2026 Fall Little Kickers Clinic. Register early to secure a spot!

  • Who: Open to all children ages 4 and 5.
  • What: Indoor soccer. All participants must have their own shin guards.
  • Where: Instructional Clinic will be held at Linden Multi-Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: The Little Kickers Clinic begins on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 9am. Clinic will run for eight (8) Saturdays: January 17, 24, 31, February 7, 14, 21, 28, March 7.
  • How: Registration deadline is December 30, 2025. After deadline, all registrants must register by calling 908-474-8600 or 908-474-8627, and a waiting list will be established. Registration fee is $65 for residents, and $75 for non-residents.
