Please be advised, Union County Mosquito Control will be spraying County and Town Parks, Wednesday morning, June 5, 2024, between the hours of 3am and 7am (weather permitting). Check below for the list of Parks to be sprayed.

2024 City of Linden Summer Entertainment Series

Click here to view and/or download the 2024 Summer Entertainment Series entertainment schedule. Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation, and Uptown Linden Inc., invite you to attend the 2024 Summer Entertainment Series!

  • What: Come and enjoy the Summer Entertainment Series, events include live music of different genres, Legends of Linden, and comedy!
  • When: The 2024 Summer Entertainment Series will be held on varying nights from May 23 through September 20, 2024. Click here to view and/or download the 2024 Summer Entertainment Series entertainment schedule.
    • Concert events will begin at 7:30pm and end at 9pm.
    • Comedy Under The Stars will begin at 6:30pm and end at 9pm.
    • House Music events will begin at 4:30pm and end at 9pm.
    • Legends of Linden events will begin at 3pm and end at 7pm.
  • Where: Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade, which is located at 400 North Wood Avenue.
  • How: Free event. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional seating available for lawn chairs as space permits. Grass Clippings Reminder

The following Ordinance has been adopted as mandated by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). Prepared by the Linden Department of Community Services, Division of Engineering & Department of Public Works.

  • It is illegal to blow grass/lawn clippings into the street
  • According to Ordinance 49-79, it is a violation to sweep, rake, blow or otherwise place yard waste, unless the yard waste is containerized, in the street.
  • Professional Lawn services and residents can be cited for violations of these rules.
  • If you have someone mow you lawn, remind them to dispose of grass clippings appropriately, or you will pay twice for their service and the citation
  • City of Linden Public Works will collect grass clippings in a sturdy container labeled GRASS, of in a paper bag. Do not mix twigs, branches, rocks, or dirt with grass clippings. Clippings in PLASTIC bags will not be collected. Click here to view your Collection Schedule.

Linden Police Department Fourth Annual Bike Rodeo!

Do you want to learn about Bicycle safety? Come join us for the Linden Police Department Fourth Annual Bike Rodeo!

  • Who: Children of any age interested in bicycle safety.
  • What: Fourth Annual Bicycle Rodeo! With the summer months ahead, bicycle safety is an important topic to discuss. Children of all ages will learn about proper helmet use and bicycle safety. There will also be an obstacle course!
  • Where: Linden Memorial Field Park next to the Baseball Field on Lower Road.
  • When: Friday, May 24, 2024 from 4pm until 7pm.

Polish American Sports Association – Polonia 5K Run

Join us for the 10th Polonia 5K Run, “Zapraszamy do Linden.” The 10th Polonia 5K Run is proudly sponsored by the Polish American Sports Association, the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union, United Poles Federal Credit Union, Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce, AK Progress Corporation, and BDG Hotels. Race VIP special guest Speedskating Olympic Champion Zbigniew Brodka. Awards ceremony to follow with T-shirts, food, beverages and music for all runners. Awards will be given to 1st overall finishers in all age, male, female, teacher, fireman and policeman categories.

  • Who: The Polonia 5K is open to both Runners and Walkers. Linden and Non-Linden residents are welcome!
  • What: Polonia 5K Run, with race VIP special guest Speedskating Olympic Champion Zbigniew Brodka. Awards ceremony to follow with T-shirts, food, beverages and music for all runners. Awards will be given to 1st overall finishers in all age, male, female, teacher, fireman and policeman categories.
  • When: Sunday June 9, 2024. Packet pickup is from 7:30am until 9:30am, Dash Around the Block (kids 8 years and younger) starts at 9:15am, the Main Race starts at 10am, and the Award Ceremony will begin at 12pm.
  • Where: Start/Finish beside Elementary School No. 1 on East Curtis Street.

2024 Linden Tigers Summer Bowling Camp

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Summer Bowling Camp, with Linden High School bowling coach James Orth.

  • Who: Residents in Grades 6 through 12.
  • What: 2024 Linden Tigers Summer Bowling Camp, with Linden High School bowling coach James Orth. Goals: Skill development and feedback, strategy and tactics for improving, team building and camaraderie competition preparation, game awareness, and enjoyment of the sport!
  • Where: Jersey Lanes, which is located at 30 Park Avenue.
  • When: Tuesday July 16 and 23, and Thursday July 18 and 25, from 10am until 12pm.

Self-Defense Class

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer a self-defense class hosted by the Linden Police Department. The self-defense community event taught by certified instructors will provide our residents the opportunity to learn essential standing and ground skills to stay safe and confident.

Linden Wood Avenue Merchant & Business Storefront Halloween Decoration Contest

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Department of Parks & Recreation invite you to participate in the Wood Avenue Merchant and Business Storefront Halloween Decoration Contest. Storefronts must be decorated and registered prior to judging at 1pm on October 19, 2024.

  • What: Linden Wood Avenue Merchant and Business Storefront Halloween Decoration Contest. The winning store will receive a first place plaque to be hung in the store, and will be invited to ride of a float at the 71st Linden Halloween Parade on October 27, 2024. The winning Business/Merchant will also be acknowledged at the November City Council Meeting.
  • When: Storefronts must be decorated and registered prior to judging at 1pm on October 19, 2024.
