A Night with Catherine McCall

The Mayor’s Youth Commission is pleased to offer A Night with Catherine McCall. A fundraiser to raise money for Linden High School Senior Class of 2024 Scholarships.

  • What: A Night with Catherine McCall; the Mayor’s Youth Commission fundraiser to raise money for Linden High School Senior Class of 2024 Scholarships. There will be a concession with baked goods, snacks and beverages available for purchase, as well as door prizes.
  • When: April 19, 2024. Doors will open at 6:15pm. Show will begin at 7pm sharp until 9:30pm.
  • Where: Linden High School Auditorium, which is located at West St. Georges Avenue.
  • How:

    • After completing the form below, make sure to purchase tickets/donate!
    • Keep your receipt of payment, it will serve as your ticket(s) for entry to the event.
    • Ticket prices are as follows:

Keeping Our Students Safe

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and Linden Public Schools announce “Keeping Our Students Safe” Public Service Announcement (PSA) Student Video Contest, as part of the “It Takes a Village” initiative. Students may submit a PSA video focused on ways to positively enhance school safety and security.

  • Who: All Linden Public School students from elementary to high school.
  • What: A student video contest focused on ways to positively enhance school safety and security. Prizes will be awarded as follows:
    • $500 Elementary Level
    • $750 Middle School Level
    • $1,000 High School Level
  • When: The submission deadline is Friday, March 1, 2024 at 4pm. Winners will be announced at the March 21, 2024 at the Board Meeting.
  • How: Send the video to Mr. Chris Paskewich by email here. Click here for the criteria for submission and permission slip that must be attached. Students can submit their videos individually or with peers from their school-level group. The High School and Middle School submissions should be a minimum of 2 minutes, but not longer than 5 minutes. Elementary submissions should be a minimum of 1 minute, but not more than 3 minutes.

Holiday House Decorating Contest

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Linden Cultural & Heritage Committee present the Holiday House Decorating Contest! Let’s light up Linden with holiday spirit!

All homes in Linden that have their holiday lights on from December 12 to December 20 will be judged. No registration required. Winners to be announced on December 28, 2023. Winning homes will be on the City of Linden website, and pictures will be shared on Linden’s Facebook and Nextdoor pages. Gift cards will be delivered to the winning homes. Homes that have won in the past two years will not be eligible. Email here to have your home judged.

A Community Celebration – Youth and Family Fall Festival

Communities in Cooperation presents a community celebration with skill building workshops, giveaways, family assistance, gas, food cards, clothing, pop up shops and more and more.

Dancing For Cancer Awareness

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Department of Parks & Recreation present Pink Thursday Afterwork Dancing for Cancer Awareness.  

  • What: Pink Thursday Afterwork Dancing for Cancer Awareness. Free mammogram and prostate information. Tony Touch and Dawn Tallman will be performing. DJ’s Tamir, Soulfingers and Robert Andrew will play Latin dance music and Afro dance music.
  • Where: Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade, which is located at 400 North Wood Avenue.
  • When: Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 5pm until 9pm.
  • How: Free event.

STEM Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer a seven-week STEM program, hosted by Little Ivy Academy.

  • Who: For ages 6 through 12 years old.
  • What: STEM Program hosted by Little Ivy Academy. The STEM Program is created for elementary and middle school graders of all skill levels! The program opens the door to hands-on digital creation. This generates crafting functional plots and environments for game-play and story-telling.
  • Where: Linden Multi-Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: Monday, September 25 through November 13, from 4pm to 5:30pm.
    • No class on October 9, 2023.
