  • Where: Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade, which is located at 400 North Wood Avenue.
    • In the event of inclement weather, the Haitian Flag Day Celebration will be held at the John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.

  • What: Come and enjoy the Summer Entertainment Series, events include live music of different genres, karaoke and comedy!
  • When: The 2023 Summer Entertainment Series will be held on varying nights from May 10 through September 12, 2023. For the complete entertainment schedule, click here.
    • Concert events will begin at 7:30pm and end at 9pm.
    • House Music events will begin at 5pm and end at 9pm.
    • Karaoke events will begin at 6pm and end at 9pm.
    • Comedy Under The Stars will begin at 6:30pm and end at 9pm.

  • What: The Linden Police Department Third Annual Bike Rodeo. Bring your bike and enjoy fun bicycle activities, giveaways, and obstacle courses, while learning the ABC bike check, bike safety education and more!
  • Where: The basketball courts at Dr. Martin Luther King Park (4th Ward Park), which is located at 701 McCandless Street.

Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Linden Health Department are pleased to provide free Rabies Vaccination Clinics.

*For safety, all dogs must be leashed and all cats must be in carriers*

  • Who: Open to all New Jersey residents. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Health Department Reminder Notice or ID is required.
  • What: Free rabies vaccinations. New and renewal pet licensing services will also be available.
  • When & Where:
    • Wednesday, May 10, from 5pm until 8pm at Fire House #1 (302 South Wood Avenue).
    • Saturday, May 20, from 10am until 2pm at Fire House #2 (302 West St. Georges Avenue).

Free Trees!

  • What: Come celebrate Arbor Day, free seedlings (Bur Oak & Chestnut Oak) will be handed out to plant on your own property. Seedlings planted during Arbor Day will be part of a future Urban Forest. Click here to learn more about Urban and Community Forestry in New Jersey.

    • May 2, 2023 from 3pm until 5pm.
    • May 3, 2023 from 8am until 10am.

Hooked on Fishing

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce that registration is open for the 2024 Fishing Season for all Linden children ages 5 through 18! Registration deadline is Thursday, April 18, 2024. All children ages 5 through 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 16 and older will need to purchase a fishing license.

  • Who: Linden children ages 5 through 18.
  • What: Hooked on Fishing. This program will teach children basic fishing skills, including how to string and bait a pole, how to cast a line and about local fishing regulations. We encourage you to bring your chair and snacks. Let’s enjoy the fishing season!
  • When: Thursdays, from 5:30pm until 7pm.
    • April 11 and 25
    • May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.
    • June 6 and 13.
    • **Fishing Derby is on Saturday, June 1, from 10am until 2pm, in honor of Butchie Scoles (awards to follow)**
  • Where: Wilson Park, which is located at 1113 Summit Terrace.
  • How: Registration deadline is Thursday, April 18, 2024. $10 program fee, plus $6 insurance fee for first-time registrants. All children ages 5 through 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Sewing Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer youth and adult sewing programs.

  • What: Youth and adult sewing classes. Classes are grouped by age range.
    • Creative Hand Sewing (ages 8 through 12): learning basic hand-sewing stitches.
    • Machine Sewing (ages 13 through 17): foundational skills of measuring, cutting fabric, pinning, and sewing by machine and by hand. Sewing machines provided for use!
    • Adult Sewing (ages 18 and up): students will choose their own sewing pattern! All details regarding fabric and patterns will be discussed during the first class. Sewing machines provided for use!
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Six week program. Every Tuesday beginning on May 2, 2023 through June 13, 2023.
    • Ages 8 through 12, from 3:30pm until 4:30pm
    • Ages 13 through 17, from 5pm until 6:30pm.
    • Ages 18 and up, from 7pm until 8:30pm.

2023 Spring Wrestling Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2023 Winter Wrestling Program. Our program has produced League and State champions! No experience needed. No one is too big or too small to wrestle!

  • Who: For children ages 8 through 18.
  • What: Instruction on basic wrestling techniques and skills to improve one’s body awareness and overall confidence. All participants must have their own wrestling shoes. No experience needed! No one is too big or too small to wrestle!
  • When & Where: Program runs from April 17, 2023 through June 15, 2023. Practices held from 6:30pm until 8pm.
    • Monday and Wednesday practice will be held at School 4, which is located at 1602 Dill Avenue.
    • Tuesday and Thursday practice will be held at McManus Middle School, which is located at 300 Edgewood Road.
  • How: $25 registration fee, plus a $6 insurance fee. All participants must have their own wrestling shoes. Register online here, or register in-person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9:30am until 7:30pm. All locations accept checks, money orders, Visa and Mastercard. No cash. No refunds once the session begins. For more information, call (908) 474-8600.
