Holiday House Decorating Contest

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Linden Cultural & Heritage Committee present the Holiday House Decorating Contest! Let’s light up Linden with holiday spirit!

All homes in Linden that have their holiday lights on from December 12th to December 20th will be judged. No registration required. Winners to be announced on December 28th. Winning homes will be on the City of Linden website, and pictures will be shared on Linden’s Facebook and Nextdoor pages. Gift cards will be delivered to the winning homes. Homes that have won in the past two years will not be eligible.

Annual Coat Drive

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Kayode Mckinnon Soccer Academy proudly host the annual Coat Drive. Give back to those in need!

  • What: Annual Coat Drive. Free coats and winter accessories will be available for all families in the surrounding community.

City of Linden 2022 Tree Lighting

Mayor Derek Armstead and the Cultural & Heritage Committee invite the City of Linden to attend the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting. Enjoy live entertainment, holiday music, refreshments and meet Santa! Starts at 6pm at Linden City Hall. After the tree lighting, Linden families are invited to the Promenade to take pictures with Santa and enjoy refreshments. No-Fee Flu and Covid Vaccinations

Mayor Derek Armstead, the Linden Health Department, the City of Linden and Super Health Pharmacy announce the No-Fee Flu and Covid Vaccination Clinics.

  • What: No-fee Flu and Covid vaccinations.
  • When: Thursday, December 1, 2022. The Flu Clinic is from 10am until 12pm. The Covid Clinic is from 4pm until 6:30pm.
  • Where: Linden Multi Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • How: No appointment necessary. Walk-ins are welcome. For more information, please call the Linden Health Department at (908) 474-8409.

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Linden City Council Entrepreneurship Program, Communities in Cooperation and its CEO Pastor Pamela B. Jones, and Linden First invite you to attend the Linden Holiday Pop Up Shop. Come ready to shop and support local small businesses!

2023 Indoor Soccer

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2023 Indoor Soccer Program. Register early to secure a spot on a team!

  • Who: Open to all children ages 6 through 12.
  • What: Indoor soccer. All participants must have their own shin guards.
  • Where: All League games are played at the Linden Multi Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: The League begins on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 10:15am.
  • How: Registration deadline is December 30, 2022. After deadline, all registrants must register at the main office and a waiting list will be established. Registration fee is $56 for residents, and $66 for non-residents. The registration fee includes a one-time annual $6 insurance fee. All participants must have their own shin guards. Register online here, or register in person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9am until 7pm. All locations accept checks, money orders, Visa and Mastercard. No refunds once the League begins. For more information, call (908) 474-8600. Please note: all new “First Time” participants must bring the following original documents at the time of registration and we will make copies:
    • Child’s original birth certificate.
    • Household bill showing proof of residency.
    • Diver’s License or photo ID of parent/guardian signing up their child.

2023 Winter Wrestling Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2023 Winter Wrestling Program. Our program has produced League and State champions! No experience needed. No one is too big or too small to wrestle!

  • Who: For children ages 8 through 18.
  • What: Instruction on basic wrestling techniques and skills to improve one’s body awareness and overall confidence. All participants must have their own wrestling shoes. No experience needed! No one is too big or too small to wrestle!
  • Where: McManus Middle School, which is located at 300 Edgewood Road.
  • When: Program runs from November 28, 2023 through March 9, 2023. Practices are every Monday through Thursday from 6:30pm until 8pm.
  • How: $60 registration fee plus a $6 insurance fee. All participants must have their own wrestling shoes. Register online here, or register in person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9:30am until 7:30pm.
