The City of Linden Noise Ordinance No.2023-08 exists to promote the health, safety, and welfare of all residents by minimizing unnecessary and excessive noise. - Excessive loud vehicle stereos are among the most common noise complaints received by the City.
- Motorcycles must have a muffler meeting federal standards (40 CFR Part 205)
- Removing or disabling a vehicles noise-control equipment is unlawful.
- Power tools, landscaping and yard maintenance equipment must be operated with a muffler and/or sound reduction device.
- All motorized equipment and demolition activity (excluding emergency work) must be operated with a muffler and/or sound reduction device.
- If your neighbors can clearly hear your music from distances of 25 feet and/or 50 feet, you may be in violation of the ordinance.
- It is unlawful to allow any domesticated or caged animal to create a sound that unreasonably disturbs neighbors.
- Violations of the Noise Ordinance (No. 2023-08) may result in summonses and fines. Click here to learn more.
