This notice announces relief measures for residential ratepayers that have experienced economic challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please review this message in its entirety. The deadline to apply is September 23, 2022, 4:30pm.
Installment Plan Availability
BE ADVISED that State law requires the Linden Roselle Sewerage Authority to offer residential customers an installment plan for unpaid 2021 Sewer balances. Residential customers offered an installment plan have 30 days to agree to the plan. To maintain the installment plan, a residential customer must make timely payments on all current charges. If the residential customer fails to pay their arrearages and/or current charges within 30 days after the due date, then the installment plan is void and the City of Linden Tax Collector can proceed with enforcement.
Late Fees, Charges & Penalties
BE ADVISED that P.L. 2021, c. 317 and P.L. 2022, c. 4 prohibit local government from charging residential customers interest, fees, or charges for late payment of Linden Roselle Sewerage Authority charges accruing between March 9, 2020 and March 15, 2022. This prohibition does not apply to sewer liens that were sold before January 1, 2022. Late interest, fees or charges may be enforced against unpaid charges accruing before March 9, 2020 and after March 15, 2022 but may be waived to the extent required by a utility assistance program.

Governor Murphy Signs Executive Order Allowing Municipalities to Extend Grace Period for May 1st Property Tax Payments until June 1st
TRENTON – Governor Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 130, which allows municipalities to extend the grace period for property tax payments due on May 1st to June 1st. Such an extension would provide much-needed relief to homeowners struggling financially as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Allowing municipalities the option of extending the grace period for May property tax payments is the right thing to do as many New Jerseyans are impacted financially as a result of this crisis,” said Governor Murphy. “Leaders of towns and cities across the state have been trying to find ways to lessen the blow on local residents, and with this action, they are empowered to provide relief to homeowners as we continue to do everything possible to fight this pandemic.”
Dear Tax Payers & Public,
Please note that as of Wednesday March 18, 2020, City Hall will be closed to the public. In an effort to make this change more of an easy transition, there will be a drop off box at the Police Department for checks. Please bring an envelope clearly marked “Tax Collector”. If you do not have one, there will be some available. Please seal and place in the slot on the left of the desk. These will be picked up the next morning and processed as such. I would appreciate no cash being left, as we will be unable to present a receipt for you at the time of payment. Online payments are accepted here. Click here to be taken to the Tax Collector’s page.
