Senior Zumba Gold

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Senior Zumba Gold.

  • Who: For Linden senior residents. Participants should consult with a physician prior to participation.
  • What: Perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower intensity, with easy-to-follow Zumba choreography. The main focus is on balance, range of motion and coordination.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Fridays, January 12 through March 22, 2024 from 9:30am until 10:30am.
    • No class on February 16, 2024.
  • How: Free program. Participants should consult with a physician prior to participation. To view full program description and register online, click here. All homes in Linden that had their holiday lights on from December 12 to December 20 were included in this contest. No registration required. Winners announced on December 28, 2023. One winner was selected from each ward! Congratulations to the winners! Winning homes will be on the City of Linden website, and pictures will be shared on Linden’s Facebook and Nextdoor pages. Gift cards will be delivered to the winning homes. Homes that have won in the past two years were not eligible.

Public Hearing Announcement – Stewardship Application

PURPOSE: The City of Linden is seeking funding through the State of NJ Green Acres Program for improvements at Wilson Park Recreation Center located at 1100-1198 Summit Terrace near the Summit Terrace and Morningside Ave Intersection in Linden, New Jersey.

PROJECT SCOPE: The City of Linden proposes improvements at Wilson Park Recreation Center: Wilson Park Pond Dredging and Aeration. A concept plan showing the proposed changes, a preliminary cost estimate, and an environmental impact assessment for the project can be found here.

PUBLIC HEARING INFORMATION: The public is encouraged to attend a public hearing to learn more about the proposal and to ask questions or provide comments on the proposed plan on January 16, 2024 at 7pm, EST. The meeting will be held In Person as part of the regularly scheduled Council meeting. Written comments on the proposed application may be directed to Keith Pressey, Management Specialist, at (908) 474-8600.

PURPOSE: The City of Linden is seeking funding through the State of NJ Green Acres Program for improvements at AL Kalla Park located at 2800 Wickersham Avenue, near the Highland Ave and Springfield Road Intersection in Linden, New Jersey.

PROJECT SCOPE: The City of Linden proposes to create the following new facilities at Al Kalla Park: a turf soccer and softball field with lights. A concept plan showing the proposed changes, a preliminary cost estimate, and an environmental impact assessment for the project can be found here.

PUBLIC HEARING INFORMATION: The public is encouraged to attend a public hearing to learn more about the proposal and to ask questions or provide comments on the proposed plan on January 16, 2024 at 7pm, EST. A concept plan showing the proposed changes, a preliminary cost estimate, and an environmental impact assessment for the project can be found here.

Men’s Basketball League

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer the Men’s Basketball League.

  • Who: Men’s League for ages 18 and older.
  • What: The Men’s Basketball League is designed to instill physical activity, community engagement and healthy competition among men of all ages and skill levels.
  • Where: Linden Multi-Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: Start date is January 23, 2024. The League will run for eight (8) weeks on Tuesday nights, with two (2) weeks of playoffs.
