Public Notice for Request for Qualifications for Retirement Services “Mass Mutual” (Empower), and Retirement Services “Voya Financial”

Public Notice for the Request for Qualifications of Professional Service Contracts beginning January 1, 2025. Notice is hereby given that in accordance with N.J.S.A. 19:44-20.5 et seq. through a fair and open process, the City of Linden is requesting sealed submissions for Professional Service Contracts. Sealed submissions will be received by the Purchasing Agent, Jessica L. Slawinski, of the City of Linden, on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 10am prevailing time, in the 1st Floor Purchasing Department, City Hall, City of Linden, 301 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ 07036 then publicly opened and read aloud for the following:

  1. Retirement Services “Mass Mutual” (Empower)
  2. Retirement Services “Voya Financial”

Proposals must be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS, for (Position Number as Listed Above, Name of Position) and bearing the name and address of the proposer on outside; addressed to the Purchasing Agent, Jessica L. Slawinski, City of Linden, City Hall, Purchasing Department, 301 North Wood Avenue, 1st Floor, Linden, NJ 07036. 

Standardized submission requirements and selection criteria are on file and available in the Purchasing Department, City Hall, 301 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ 07036.

In addition to full compliance with N.J.S.A. 19:44A-20.4 et. seq. (“Pay To Play”), individuals or firms awarded contracts under these procedures will be required to comply with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 52:32-44 (Business Registration of Public Contractors), 42 U.S.C. Section 12101 et. seq. (Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990), N.J.S.A. 10:5-31 et seq. And N.J.A.C. 17:27 et seq. (Contract Compliance and Equal Employment Opportunities in Public Contracts)

Any RFQ Addenda will be issued on the website and processed in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A11-23(c)(1).  All interested respondents should check the website from now through RFQ opening. It is the sole responsibility of the respondent to be knowledgeable of all addenda related to this procurement.   

Submission by Corporations and Partnerships shall include a completed Disclosure of Ownership form (N.J.S.A. 52:25-24.2) and shall include a completed Non-Collusion Affidavit.

The City of Linden reserves the right to reject any or all submissions due to any defects of waive informalities and accept any submissions that in their judgment will be in the best interest of the City of Linden. The City of Linden shall award the contract or reject all submissions no later than 60 days from receipt of the same.

Public Notice for the Request for Proposals for Linden Opioid Abatement and Substance Abuse Eradication and Redirection Program – Prevention Consultants, under a fair and open process. Responses to Request For Proposals will be received by the Purchasing Agent of the City of Linden, at Linden City Hall, 301 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ 07036  Purchasing Department, on Thursday, January 16, 2025 10:00 am prevailing time for the following described proposal:

  1. Linden Opioid Abatement and Substance Abuse Eradication and Redirection Program – Prevention Consultants

Parks Open Space Conservation Master Plan Public Meetings – 4th Ward Rescheduled

The 4th Ward – Parks Open Space Conservation Master Plan – public meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday, December 19, 2024.

  • What: Parks Open Space Conservation Master Plan. The City of Linden invites you, our community, to come out and share your ideas on how the City can improve and conserve its 37 parks and 258 acres of open space for residents to enjoy for years to come. Ward residents of the scheduled meetings are encouraged to attend. During the months of November and December, we will host public meetings to discuss your ward parks and open spaces. A municipal wide Park Master Plan creates a road map inclusive of community input for city administrators to follow, when short, mid and long term park improvements plans are discussed. Come and be heard. Additional ward discussion will be scheduled at later dates. Hope to see you there, limited light refreshments will be served.

All homes in Linden that have their holiday lights on from December 12 to December 20 will be judged. No registration required. Winners to be announced on December 28, 2024. Winning homes will be on the City of Linden website, and pictures will be shared on Linden’s Facebook and Nextdoor pages. Gift cards will be delivered to the winning homes. Homes that have won in the past two years will not be eligible. Email here to have your home judged.

  • What: Party with a Purpose Toy Drive hosted by Hot 97’s DJ Drewski. Toys will be distributed at the Mayor’s Breakfast with Santa and the balance goes to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Drive. Cash bar.
  • When: Wednesday, December 18, from 6pm until 9pm.
  • Where: Applebee’s Grill and Bar, which is located at 671 West Edgar Road.
    • If you cannot make the Toy Drive, toys can be dropped at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen street) anytime between 8am until 4pm Monday through Friday.

Tutoring Classes

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Tutoring Classes.

  • Who: Youth program for all grade levels.
  • What: Six month tutoring classes. This program is designed to help students who need extra help beyond the classroom. Our one-on-one design will allow personalized help for the students. The intervention that we will apply will be in the form of tutoring and mentoring.
  • When: Beginning Monday, January 6, 2025. The program will be held weekly on Mondays for six months from 4pm until 5:30pm.
