Community Wide Garage Sale to be Held in 9th & 10th Wards – All Fees Waived

The City of Linden is hosting a community-wide garage sale in the 9th and 10th Wards on October 15, 2022 and October 16, 2022.

  • The City of Linden is waiving fees for permits for this community-wide garage sale.
  • The 9th and 10th Ward garage sale shall not impact a resident’s right to conduct up to two garage sales in a year.
  • Chapter 4-3.6 shall still apply, limiting one singled faced sign containing not more than four square feet in total area to be placed upon the premises where the sale is being conducted, and further prohibiting any other signs and either public or private property.

Help Rebuild the Linden VFW

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, NJDEMS Veterans Caucus, Union County Democratic Committee and VET4U invite you to attend the fundraiser to help rebuild the Linden Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

The City of Linden 2022 Polish Festival!

Mayor Derek Armstead, Council President Michele Yamakaitis, the City of Linden, Uptown Linden, the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union present the 3rd annual City of Linden 2022 Polish Festival. Bringing the Polish community together for one big event!

  • Who: Fun for all ages!
  • What: Polish festival with authentic Polish food, a beer and wine tent, Polish vendors, Polish Living History, live Polish music & DJ, and children’s activities.
  • Where: In front of Linden City Hall (301 North Wood Avenue) and the Raymond Wood Bauer Promenade (400 North Wood Avenue).
  • When: Saturday, September 17th from 1pm until 9pm. Rain date is Sunday, September 18th.

Drive-Through Food Distribution – Linden

Mayor Derek Armstead and the City of Linden in partnership with Mosdos Hatorah Dlinden are proud to announce food distribution of kosher food boxes for six (6) weeks beginning on Monday, July 25th, 2022.

  • What: Drive-through food distribution of kosher food boxes while supplies last.
  • Where: 139 Marion Avenue in the parking lot behind 1600 West Elizabeth Avenue. Please follow the directions provided in the flyer and map.
  • When: Mondays from 6pm until 7:30pm. The first distribution will be held on July 25th, 2022. The final distribution will be held on August 29th, 2022.
  • How: Please make sure your trunk is open before entering the distribution site. On behalf of our local Police Department and Traffic Control, please come down Stiles Street, turn onto West Elizabeth Avenue, make a right on Marion Avenue and a left into the distribution center’s parking lot behind 1600 West Elizabeth Avenue.

Mayor Derek Armstead and Y.O.E.T. in affiliation with the Council of Jewish Organizations (COJO) of Union County are excited to announce that they will be providing food distribution for six (6) weeks beginning on Monday, July 25th, 2022.

  • What: Drive-through food distribution provided by Y.O.E.T in affiliation with COJO of Union County for six weeks.
  • Where: Superfresh parking lot – 550 Raritan Road, Roselle, NJ 07203. The drive-through line will start at the corner of Wood Avenue and Raritan Road towards West 9th Avenue.
  • When: Mondays at 6pm while supplies last. The first distribution will be held on July 25th, 2022. The final distribution will be held on August 29th, 2022.
  • How: On behalf of our local Police Department, please follow the traffic directions: the drive-through line will start at the corner of Wood Avenue and Raritan Road towards West 9th Avenue.

Construction Notice: Amtrak Railroad Modernization Project

Beginning Friday, July 22, Amtrak will start work on an important infrastructure modernization project along a five-mile section of the Boston Northeast Corridor (NEC) in and around the City of Linden.

Once completed, the work performed will increase the overall reliability of the infrastructure, enhance ride quality and will be of great benefit to the thousands of passengers who rely on NJ Transit and Amtrak for travel.

The estimated construction schedule for work is as follows:

  • Starting July 22, through September, workers will be in the Linden area performing work at night along Track A of the existing railroad. The work will take place on weekdays from Monday through Thursday and include weekends. The hours of work are typically from 9pm until 7am.
  • Starting in September through November, workers will be in the Linden area performing work at night along Track B of the existing railroad. The work will take place on weekdays from Monday through Thursday and include weekends. The hours of work are typically from 9pm until 7am.

Associated Humane Societies Mobile Veterinary Clinic – Event Postponed

Mayor Derek Armstead and the City of Linden have partnered with the Associated Humane Societies to provide Linden residents with the Associated Humane Societies Mobile Unit by appointment only on July 26th.

Services to be offered by appointment only include wellness checks, vaccinations and microchips. No surgeries.
