America’s 911 Foundation – Disaster Relief

America’s 911 Foundation is partnering with the City of Linden Fire Department collecting supplies for disaster relief in Southwestern Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

  • What: America’s 911 Foundation is partnering with the City of Linden Fire Department collecting supplies for disaster relief in Southwestern Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. We are looking specifically for:
    • Bottled water, by case or pallets.
    • Non perishable food and manual can openers.
    • Toiletries like toothbrushes and paste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, hair brushes, and combs.
    • Diapers, feminine products, depends, baby wipes, first aide items, baby items like bottles, formula and baby food.
    • Pet food and cleaning supplies. Traps, flashlights and batteries. No clothes at this time!
  • Where: Drop off site is located at Linden Fire House #3, 1201 East Elizabeth Avenue.
  • When: Supplies can be dropped off daily from 9am until 7pm through Saturday, October 12, 2024.
  • How: Drop-off supplies at Linden Fire House #3. Click here to donate online. 100% of donation will go directly to relief efforts as Foundation is an all volunteer 501C3 organization. Federal Tax ID is 42 1573312.

All professional service contractors are required to comply with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 52:32-44 (Business Registration of Public Contractors), N.J.S.A. 10:5-31 et seq. And N.J.A.C. 17:27 et seq. (Contract Compliance and Equal Employment Opportunities in Public Contracts).

Submission by Corporations and Partnerships shall include a completed Disclosure of Ownership form (N.J.S.A. 52:25-24.2) and shall include a completed Non-Collusion Affidavit.

The City of Linden reserves the right to reject any or all submissions due to any defects of waive informalities and accept any submissions that in their judgment will be in the best interest of the City of Linden. The City of Linden shall award the contract or reject all submissions no later than 60 days from receipt of the same.

Youth Swim Lessons

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation and the Gateway Family YMCA are pleased to offer Youth Swim Lessons, due to a grant received by Phillips 66 and in partnership with the City of Linden.

  • What: Free youth swim lessons. Classes will be held in the Fall at either our Union or Rahway branches.
  • Where: Classes will be held in either of the following branches:
    1. The Gateway Family YMCA Rahway Branch, which is located at 1564 Irving St, Rahway, NJ 07065.
    2. The Gateway Family YMCA Five Points Branch, which is located at 201 Tucker Ave, Union, NJ 07083.
  • When: Fall, 2024.
  • How: Free program. Slots are limited and this program is on a first come, first served basis. Click here to fill out the interest form.   • What: Linden Wood Avenue Merchant and Business Storefront Halloween Decoration Contest. The winning store will receive a first place plaque to be hung in the store, and will be invited to ride of a float at the 71st Linden Halloween Parade on October 27, 2024. The winning Business/Merchant will also be acknowledged at the November City Council Meeting.
  • When & How: Storefronts must be decorated and registered prior to judging on October 18, 2024. Judging will take place on October 19, 2024. Complete the form believe to register your business in the Halloween Decoration Contest.

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office, Union County Board of County Commissioners, Union County Police Chiefs Association, Union County Sheriff’s Department, and Union County Police Department along with the local police departments from Berkeley Heights, Clark, Cranford, Elizabeth, Fanwood, Garwood, Hillside, Kenilworth, Linden, Mountainside, New Providence, Plainfield, Rahway, Roselle, Roselle Park, Scotch Plains, Springfield, Summit, Union, Westfield, and Winfield present the Union County Gun Surrender Program.
