Martial Arts

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Martial Arts, an eight (8) week youth program.

  • Who: Ages 5 through 15.
  • What: Martial Arts, an effective form of self defense. This program is designed to be a positive way to burn calories and socialize with quality friends in a safe setting. Your child will learn important life skills including confidence, self-discipline, loyalty, respect, perseverance, honor, and self-control.
  • Where: Linden Multi-Purpose Center, located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: Eight week program. Every Thursday, beginning March 13 through May 1, from 5pm until 6pm.

2025 Spring Tennis Lessons

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation, and USTA Certified Pro tennis instructor Tony Labonte are pleased to present Spring Tennis Lessons. Youth and Adult sessions will be offered.

  • Who: Ages 5 and up. Youth and adult classes designated by age range.

    • Tuesday classes will meet at Memorial Park (2600 South Wood Avenue) on May 6, 13, 20, 27, June 3 and 10.
    • Saturday classes will meet at Wilson Park (1113 Summit Terrace) on May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and June 7.

STEM Program – App Makers

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer a nine-week STEM program – App Makers: connect and share! Hosted by Little Ivy Academy.

  • Who: For third through fifth graders.
  • What: STEM Program hosted by Little Ivy Academy – App Makers: connect and share! The STEM Program is created for elementary school graders of all skill levels! Through this program, your child will get hands-on opportunities to develop their programming skills as they design and code their functional smartphone apps to share with family and friends!
  • Where: Linden Multi-Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: Fridays, March 14 through May 9, from 4pm until 5pm.

2025 Tennis Clinic

Public Notice for the Request for Qualifications for Zoning Board Attorney Services

Public Notice for the Request for Qualifications of Professional Service Contracts beginning March 1, 2025. Notice is hereby given that in accordance with N.J.S.A. 19:44-20.5 et seq. through a fair and open process, the City of Linden is requesting sealed submissions for Professional Service Contracts. Sealed submissions will be received by the Purchasing Agent, Jessica L. Slawinski, of the City of Linden, on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. prevailing time, in the 1st Floor Purchasing Department, City Hall, City of Linden, 301 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ 07036 then publicly opened and read aloud for the following:

  1. Zoning Board Attorney Services

Proposals must be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS, for (Position Number as Listed Above, Name of Position) and bearing the name and address of the proposer on outside; addressed to the Purchasing Agent, Jessica L. Slawinski, City of Linden, City Hall, Purchasing Department, 301 North Wood Avenue, 1st Floor, Linden, NJ 07036.

Any RFQ Addenda will be issued on the website and processed in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A11-23(c)(1).  All interested respondents should check the website from now through RFQ opening. It is the sole responsibility of the respondent to be knowledgeable of all addenda related to this procurement.   

Submission by Corporations and Partnerships shall include a completed Disclosure of Ownership form (N.J.S.A. 52:25-24.2) and shall include a completed Non-Collusion Affidavit.

The City of Linden reserves the right to reject any or all submissions due to any defects or waive informalities and accept any submissions that in their judgment will be in the best interest of the City of Linden. The City of Linden shall award the contract or reject all submissions no later than 60 days from receipt of the same.

Covid-19-RSV-Flu Vaccination Clinic

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Linden Board of Health and the John T. Gregorio Center, in partnership with the Union County Immunization Clinic are providing a Covid-19-RSV-Flu Vaccination Clinic.

  • Who and What:
    • Covid-19 and Flu vaccinations for ages 6 and up.
    • RSV vaccinations for ages 60 and up.
    • Uninsured and underinsured are welcome.
  • When: Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 1pm until 3pm.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.

Enrollment this Tuesday, February 11, from 4:30 pm until 6pm. The enrollment is easy and only takes 10 minutes to complete.
