Purchasing / Contract Manager – Full Time

Responsibilities include administrating the Authority’s purchasing system in conformance with the public purchasing law, reviewing bid specifications, review the performance of vendors and contractors and assist the Financial Manger and Office Manager as needed. Qualifications: experience in purchasing regulations under the N.J. Public Contracts Law, excellent writing skills and experienced computer skills (Microsoft Office). Qualified Purchasing Agent State Certification is required. Monday–Friday 8:30AM-4:00PM, benefits, salary based on experience and qualifications. EOE. Notice RE New Business Administrator Position Available

An exciting opportunity to be the first Business Administrator in the history of the community. 

The City is seeking to transition to more professional management, accountability and responsibility in governmental operations and has created for the first time the position of Business Administrator. Linden is a diverse, historic, Urban/Suburban community with strong opportunities for redevelopment and economic growth. The City has a growing population, is located 13 miles from Manhattan, and is home to the general Aviation airport and a thriving NJ Transit station.  Population is 40,499 and the municipal budget is $100 million, supporting a full range of municipal departments and services.  This is an exciting opportunity to work with committed elected officials to help shape the future of the local government and community.

Financial, communications, and interpersonal skills are key for this position. Salary and contact are negotiable. Food Distribution Event – Saturday, May 8, 2021 @ 8am

The Union County Board of County Commissioners, the Village Super Market of Springfield Township, Gargiulo Produce and CMC are providing this drive up only food distribution event to all Union County residents affected by COVID-19 on Saturday, May 8, 2021 @ 8am.

Event Details

  • First 1,200 vehicles will receive shelf-safe food and fresh produce on a first come, first served basis.
  • One food distribution per vehicle, while supplies last.
  • Please make sure to clear out the vehicle’s trunk prior to arrival to make room for food bags.
  • Bring one (1) proof of NJ residency, such as a utility bill, driver’s license, ID card, etc.
  • Event will take place rain or shine.

Notice RE May 11th, 2021 Planning Board Meeting

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that in accordance with the Open Public Meeting Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-6 et. seq., and the Governor of New Jersey’s Executive Orders 102 and 104 regarding COVID-19 the Planning Board of the City of Linden will conduct its regular meeting at 6:30 PM. The meeting will be conducted VIRTUALLY due to the current health problems limiting personal contact and public gatherings through electronic communication equipment to facilitate public comments or questions. Day Camp CDC Guidelines

2021 Summer Day Camp Reopening Plan

We are excited to reopen the Summer Day Camp program for in-person activities for 2021. Our Day Camp program is more important than ever for Linden’s youth for several reasons: Giving children the opportunity to socialize, providing working parents with safe childcare, and providing an opportunity for children to have a routine and return to a sense of normalcy (Lupert, 2021, Par. 6-7). However, the main priority is the health and safety of our participants. By combining these elements, we aim for our participants have a safe, enjoyable, and transformative experience in the parks and facilities of the City of Linden. The Day Camp Reopening Plan is guided by the New Jersey 2021 COVID-19 Youth Summer Camp Standards Guidelines. Thus, please note that this plan is tentative and may be changed at any time based on updated guidance from the appropriate authorities.

May 10, 2021 Zoning Board of Adjustment Meeting Notice

The City of Linden, Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting has been scheduled for Monday, May 10, 2021 at 7pm. The Meeting will be conducted electronically. Attendance will be via RingCentral due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Official action will be taken and portions of the meeting may be held in executive session.

Members of the public who may be attending are on mute until the public hearing or during the  public comment portion of the meeting. If you wish to be recognized please use the raised hand icon, in the program, to identify yourself. You will then give your name and address. Failure to do so, will result in you being muted, and not recognized further. If you are registered more than once you will only be recognized to speak only  one time, under your first registration. When public comment is opened, the ability to register will be closed. The Zoning Board Agenda and all other relevant documents will be posted on the City of Linden website.
