Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Blossoming Bowlers 2, in cooperation with the Linden Police Department. Let’s “strike up some fun,” and celebrate family bowling at Jersey Lanes! Registration required.

This program is funded by the NJ Department of Community Affairs ROID Grant (Recreational Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities). Each participant can bring family members for music, food, and fun. Students that are sensitive to noise, please bring headsets as there will be a DJ present.

Purpose: The City of Linden is seeking funding through the State of NJ Green Acres Program for improvements at George L. Milkosky Park located at 2100 Bedle Pl. near the Bedle Place and McCandless Pl. Intersection in Linden, New Jersey.

Project Scope: The City of Linden proposes to create the following new facilities at George L. Milkosky Park: a State-of-the-art, all-access, and all-inclusive playground. A concept plan showing the proposed changes, a preliminary cost estimate, and an environmental impact assessment for the project can be found by clicking here.

Information: The public is encouraged to attend a public hearing to learn more about the proposal and to ask questions or provide comments on the proposed plan on August 20, 2024 during the regularly scheduled 7:00 p.m. council meeting. The meeting will be held in person as part of the regularly scheduled Council meeting. Public Notice for Land Lease for 10′ x 17′ (170 s.f.) Ground Space for Cell Site Platform at 320 West St. Georges Ave. Sealed bids will be received, opened and read in public for consideration by the Purchasing Agent of the City of Linden, at the City Hall, 301 North Wood Avenue, 3rd Floor, Planning Board Room, Linden, New Jersey 07036 on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, 9:30am prevailing time.

All bids shall be presented to the City of Linden by parties bidding or their agents previous to the time designated, or when called for by the City of Linden.

Bids shall be made on the standard proposal form and be enclosed in a sealed envelope addressed to the Purchasing Agent at the above address. Bids will be rejected if not submitted within time, date and at place designated.

Bidders who elect to utilize public or private mailing for delivery of bid assume the burden of correctly addressing the envelope.

The guaranty accompanying the bid proposal shall be given in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the maximum delivered price, but not to exceed twenty thousand dollars ($20,000), and may be given at the option of the bidder by a certified check or a bid bond from a reputable insurance company licensed in the State of New Jersey.

Bidders shall comply with the Affirmative Action Requirements of NJSA 10:5-31 et seq (P.L. 1975, C. 127); (N.J.A.C. 17:27), as amended from time to time, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and N.J.S.A. 52:25-24-2 P.L. 1977, Chapter 33.

Any Addenda will be issued on the website and processed in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40:A11-23(c)(1). All interested respondents should check the website from now through the bid opening. It is the sole responsibility of the respondent to be knowledgeable of all addenda related to this procurement.

The City Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids for the above listed contract in whole and/or in part which do not comply with the specification and/or the statutory requirements. The City Council reserves the right to waive informalities as the City may deem to be in its best interest.

All Contract documents are to be submitted intact in accordance with bidder’s checklist. All erasures, interpolations, and other physical changes in the bid form shall be signed or initialed by the bidder.

Kids Canvas Paint!

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Kids Canvas Paint. Due to the popularity of this class, we are offering two dates per month in October and November to register your child for the class. Please choose one or the other. There are 15 slots per class and the classes fill quickly. Don’t be left out, register today!

  • Who: For kids ages 5 through 12.
  • What: Kids canvas paint classes. All supplies included. The painting classes are guided with the instructor showing every step. Small color copies of the painting will be handed out to the children for reference. Background music will be available to create a more creative and tranquil atmosphere for the young artists.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Due to the popularity of this class, we are offering two dates per month (please choose one or the other), with the exception of September and December where there will be one class each month. Each class is from 6pm until 7:30pm.
    • September 24.
    • October 8 or 22.
    • November 12 or 26.
    • December 10.

  • What: Youth Arts and Crafts. Have your child enjoy a free art-filled program! Each session will be focused on unique and enjoyable crafts. Let their creativity blossom.
  • Where: Linden Multi-Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: April through June on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, from 3:30pm until 5pm.
    • September 5 and 19.
    • October 3 and 17.

Adult Pilates

  • What: Adult Pilates. Provides stability, mobility, and flexibility through concentrated movements. Improves postural alignment and helps correct muscular imbalances.

  • What: Perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower intensity, with easy-to-follow Zumba choreography. The main focus is on balance, range of motion and coordination.

  • When: Fridays, September 13 through November 22, 2024 from 9:30am until 10:30am.
