Notice is hereby given that the listed City owned property, described below, will be taken up for final consideration by open public sale at auction to the highest bidder. The sale shall take place in the Planning Board Room 3rd floor at the City Hall, 301 North Wood Avenue, Linden NJ on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter can be reached. The property is subject to all the applicable zoning and land use regulations and requirements of the City of Linden. The successful bidder is responsible for compliance with same, to obtain any and all necessary permits or approval and shall comply with all other requirements of the City of Linden relating to the property.

Notice RE Two Clerk 1 Positions Available In The City of Linden Municipal Courts Department

Once completed all applications must be returned via email or mailed to City of Linden City Clerks’ Office, 301 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ 07036. Applications that are mailed must be postmarked by the application deadline or they will be returned to the applicant. Please be advised that all employment applications must be completed at the time of submission. Please include copies of resumes, proof of qualifications or any additional documents you wish to submit with your application.

Sewing Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer youth and adult sewing programs.

  • Who: Youth program for 8 through 12 years old. Adult program for ages 18 and up.
  • What: Youth and adult sewing programs. Sewing machines are provided for use by participants.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When:
    • Youth Program: Fridays, from 5:15pm until 6:45pm on April 26, May 3, 10 and 17 and June 7 and 14
    • Adult Program: Fridays, from 7pm until 8:30pm on April 26, May 3, 10 and 17 and June 7, 14, 21 and 28.

Youth Arts & Crafts

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Youth Arts & Crafts.

  • Who: Ages 6 and up.
  • What: Have your child enjoy a free art-filled program! Each session will be focused on unique and enjoyable crafts. Let their creativity blossom.
  • Where: Linden Multi-Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: April through June on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, from 3:30pm until 5pm.
    • April 11 and 25.
    • May 9 and 23.
    • June 6 and 20.

Beginners Woodshop Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer a beginners Woodshop Program.

  • Who: Children must be between the ages of 6 through 12 to participate.
  • What: Beginners Woodshop Program. The instructor will guide participants through a step-by-step course on creating an animal puzzle!
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Tuesdays, April 2 though April 30, from 6pm until 8pm.

Mixed Martial Arts

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Mixed Martial Arts, a six (6) week youth program.

  • Who: Ages 5 through 10.
  • What: Mixed Martial Arts, an effective form of self defense. Marital Arts is an art form that tests not only physical strength and endurance, but mental perseverance, determination and patience. This is all through a positive attitude, discipline, and respect towards others and ourselves. Additional techniques will be added.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • When: Six week program. Every Wednesday, beginning April 3 through May 8, from 5:45pm until 7pm.

Summer XC – Track Conditioning Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer the Summer XC/Track Conditioning Program.

  • Who: Open to all incoming Linden High School students, freshman through seniors.
  • What: Summer XC/Track Conditioning Program. The focus of this program is to begin conditioning for the upcoming athletic year. There will be a docus on drills, stretches, training and running. Be sure to bring sneakers, athletic clothing and water!
  • When: 8am until 10am, Monday through Thursday (weather permitting), beginning July 8 through August 1, 2024.
  • Where: Linden Field House at Tiger Stadium, which is located at 700 West Curtis Street.

2024 Spring Wrestling Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce the 2024 Spring Wrestling Program. Our program has produced League and State champions! All skill levels are welcome.

  • Who: For children Grade 6 through Grade 12.
  • What: Instruction on basic wrestling techniques and skills to improve one’s body awareness and overall confidence. All participants must have their own wrestling shoes. All skill levels are welcome.
  • When: Program runs from April 9 through June 13, 2024. Practice will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm until 8pm.
    • No practice on days that schools are closed.
  • Where: McManus Middle School Gymnasium, which is located at 300 Edgewood Road.
  • How: $25 registration fee, plus a $6 insurance fee. All participants must have their own wrestling shoes. Register online here, or register in-person at the John T. Gregorio Center (330 Helen Street) from 9am until 4pm, or at the Linden Multi Purpose Center (1025 John Street) from 9:30am until 7:30pm.     • Child’s original birth certificate.
    • Household bill showing proof of residency.

Smartphone Training Workshop

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer a Smartphone Training Workshop. This program is made possible in part by a 2024 HEART (History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands) Grant from the Union County Board of Commissioners.
