Notice RE Municipal Court Closure Due to COVID-19

Municipal court sessions are suspended through June 1, 2020, to mitigate public exposure to COVID-19. Citizens can call the Municipal Court for any questions at (908) 474-8423.

For this period, individuals scheduled to appear before the municipal court to contest a traffic or parking ticket, a minor local ordinance violation, or other matters: Effective May 11, 2020 with the appropriate notice to parties Municipal Court sessions may only proceed by Video or Phone no in-person court sessions. On some instances where applicable your case may be eligible to be handled through Plea by Mail per Superior Court Order. COVID-19 Testing Site Closure Notice

Due to the anticipated inclement weather, the Union County COVID-19 Drive-Through Center is closed Monday, April 13th. The center will reopen Tuesday, April 14th at 9am. All appointments scheduled for Monday will be honored on Tuesday. Also note that due to the high volume anticipated on Tuesday, no unscheduled drive-ups will be accepted. Union County residents with COVID-19 symptoms who wish to be tested should call (908) 214 7107. First-Responders and front-line health workers may call (908) 373-5105.

Municipal court sessions are suspended through April 26, 2020 in order to mitigate public exposure to COVID-19

For this period, individuals scheduled to appear before the municipal court to contest a traffic or parking ticket, a minor local ordinance violation, or other matter should instead await notice of a new court date. Defendants may continue to make payments for parking and traffic matters through the municipal court’s online payment website. Filings and payments will also continue to be accepted at the courts’ drop box, located at the Linden Police Department. Defendants may also continue to mail in payments, but be advised that court staff may have limited access to the court office to process those payments.
