Don’t Miss the Last Concert of the Season!

The Gentlemen of Soul – Earth, Wind and Fire Tribute on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 will be the last concert of the season. Don’t miss it!

  • What: R&B music.
  • When: Tuesday September 27th, 2022. Doors open at 7pm, and the concert is from 7:30pm until 9pm.
  • WhereRaymond Wood Bauer Promenade, which is located at 400 North Wood Avenue, Linden NJ 07036. In the event of inclement weather, please call (908) 474-8604 after 4pm for the status of the concert. The concert may be relocated to the John T Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street, Linden NJ 07036.
  • How: Free event. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional seating available for lawn chairs as space permits.

Dancing Under the Stars

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, Uptown Linden, FamilySoul and Mike Bono present Dancing Under the Stars. Come release the stress and dance for good health!

Community Wide Garage Sale to be Held in 9th & 10th Wards – All Fees Waived

The City of Linden is hosting a community-wide garage sale in the 9th and 10th Wards on October 15, 2022 and October 16, 2022.

  • The City of Linden is waiving fees for permits for this community-wide garage sale.
  • The 9th and 10th Ward garage sale shall not impact a resident’s right to conduct up to two garage sales in a year.
  • Chapter 4-3.6 shall still apply, limiting one singled faced sign containing not more than four square feet in total area to be placed upon the premises where the sale is being conducted, and further prohibiting any other signs and either public or private property.

Fire Prevention Night

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and the Linden Fire Department invite you to attend Fire Prevention Night on October 7th. Fire Prevention Night is the kickoff event for Fire Prevention Week (October 9th through the 15th). This year’s theme is “Fire won’t wait, plan your escape.”

  • What: Fire Prevention Night. This year’s theme is “Fire won’t wait, plan your escape.” By planning and practicing your escape plan, you can increase your family and employees’ preparedness, enabling them to react more quickly and safely in the event of a fire.
  • When: October 7th, 2022 from 5pm until 7pm.
  • Where: In front of Linden City Hall, which is located at 301 North Wood Avenue.
  • How: Please check the Linden Fire Department Facebook page and Public TV Channel 26 for additional information.

Hometown Heroes Banner Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden and Uptown Linden are pleased to announce that applications for the 2022 Linden Hometown Heroes Banner Program are now available! Honor City of Linden servicemen and women and their families, who have served or given their lives for our country in the United States Armed Forces.

  • What: Hometown Heroes Banner Program. Apply now! The banners will hang on light stands in the Linden Uptown Business District beginning in November. This program is free for Linden Military Veterans and their families.
  • How: For an application, please visit Linden SID (403 North Wood Avenue) or call (908) 718-5831, Monday through Friday from 10am until 2pm, or email here. Banner applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, until the limit for 2022 is reached. The deadline for applications with required credentials is Friday, October 7th, 2022.

Free Cancer Screening Clinic

Mayor Derek Armstead, the Linden Board of Health and the City of Linden are pleased to announce the availability of a free male and female cancer screening clinic. The New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection (NJCEED) program is made possible by a grant from the New Jersey Department of Health. This program is administered by Hoboken Family Planning, Inc.

  • Who: Available to men and women who are uninsured or under-insured. Male colorectal screening is available for ages 45 and older, and prostate screening for ages 55 to 69. Female colorectal screening is available for ages 45 and older, breast cancer screening for ages 40 to 74 (and younger if at higher risk), and cervical screening for ages 21 to 64 (limited to once every 3 to 5 years).
  • What: Free cancer screening clinic.
  • When: Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 9am until 1pm.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Recreation Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.
  • How: Free clinic. No appointment needed. For more information, please call the Linden Health Department at (908) 474-8409.

Community Information Session on Ethylene Oxide

The ETO Sterilization – Plant #2, located at 2500 Brunswick Avenue in Linden, has been identified as a commercial sterilizer where emissions of ethylene oxide may pose elevated lifetime cancer risk in portions of Linden and Elizabeth, New Jersey. 

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is committed to reducing this risk in Linden, Elizabeth and other impacted communities nationwide. EPA would like to talk to you more about these risks and the actions we are taking to reduce these risks.

  • What: Community information session with the EPA regarding ethylene oxide risks and risk mitigation.
  • Where: Virtual meeting.
  • When: September 14, 2022 at 6:30pm.
