Project Healthy Bones

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer Project Healthy Bones.

  • Who: For older adults.
  • What: Project Healthy Bones is an osteoporosis prevention, exercise, and education program for older adults. Balance and strength to stand tall.
  • When: Mondays, March 17, 2025 through October 27, 2025 from 10:30am until 12pm.
    • No Class: May 26, September 1 and October 13, 2025.
  • Where: John T. Gregorio Center, which is located at 330 Helen Street.

NJEDA Virtual Office Hours – March 21, 2025 @ 2pm

NJEDA representatives will make a brief presentation on the Innovation Programs serving NJ’s startup and scaleup companies within the Technology and LifeScience sectors. These programs range from non-dilutive forms of support, e.g., grants and tax incentives, to direct investment opportunities via venture loans and price-based equity investments.

The office hours will start promptly at 2PM and will include time for Q&A and networking. Please note that the registration page also includes links to view prior virtual events, on demand. Our next office hours will be in-person on April 25th from 2pm – 4pm. Registration for the April session will open after March 24th.

2025 Black History Vision Board

Congratulations to two Linden public school students (brother and sister) Elise and Mario Cumberbatch, from McManus were the highlight of the City of Linden’s Department of Parks and Recreation Black History Vision Board Display. This recognition was held at the John T. Gregorio Center on Thursday, February 27, 2025. Each participant had the opportunity to express themselves artistically through art. Their vision boards were a way to represent their goals, future and intentions using a collage of images, photos, newspaper clippings, etc. Elise and Mario did a fantastic job! They both spoke briefly about their art projects, took pictures, and were awarded gifts. Elise and Mario each received a $25 Amazon gift card, a Black History goody bag, and a Black History T-shirt.

Hooked on Fishing

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to announce that registration is open for the 2025 Fishing Season for all Linden children ages 5 through 18! Registration deadline is Thursday, April 10, 2025. All children ages 5 through 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 16 and older will need to purchase a fishing license. All attendees must wear provided goggles.

  • Who: Linden children ages 5 through 18.
  • What: Hooked on Fishing. This program will teach children basic fishing skills, including how to string and bait a pole, how to cast a line and about local fishing regulations. All attendees must wear provided goggles. We encourage you to bring your chair and snacks. Let’s enjoy the fishing season!
  • When: Thursdays, from 5:30pm until 7pm.
    • April 24.
    • May 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29.
    • June 5, 19, and 26.
    • June 12 – No class.
    • **Fishing Derby is on Saturday, May 31, from 10am until 2pm, in honor of Butchie Scoles (awards to follow)**
  • Where: Wilson Park, which is located at 1113 Summit Terrace.
  • How: Registration deadline is Thursday, April 10, 2025. Free program, plus $6 insurance fee for first-time registrants. All children ages 5 through 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Public Notice for the Request for Qualifications for Network Wiring Services

Public Notice for the Request for Qualifications of Professional Service Contracts beginning March 1, 2025. Notice is hereby given that in accordance with N.J.S.A. 19:44-20.5 et seq. through a fair and open process, the City of Linden is requesting sealed submissions for Professional Service Contracts. Sealed submissions will be received by the Purchasing Agent, Jessica L. Slawinski, of the City of Linden, on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 09:00 A.M. prevailing time, in the 1st Floor Purchasing Department, City Hall, City of Linden, 301 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ 07036 then publicly opened and read aloud for the following:

Network Wiring Services

Proposals must be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS, for (Position Number as Listed Above, Name of Position) and bearing the name and address of the proposer on outside; addressed to the Purchasing Agent, Jessica L. Slawinski, City of Linden, City Hall, Purchasing Department, 301 North Wood Avenue, 1st Floor, Linden, NJ 07036.

In addition to full compliance with N.J.S.A. 19:44A-20.4 et. seq. (“Pay To Play”), individuals or firms awarded contracts under these procedures will be required to comply with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 52:32-44 (Business Registration of Public contractors), 42 U.S.C. Section 12101 et. seq. (Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990), N.J.S.A. 10:5-31 et seq. And N.J.A.C. 17:27 et seq. (Contract Compliance and Equal Employment Opportunities in Public Contracts)

Any RFQ Addenda will be issued on the website and processed in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A11-23(c)(1).  All interested respondents should check the website from now through RFQ opening. It is the sole responsibility of the respondent to be knowledgeable of all addenda related to this procurement.   

Submission by Corporations and Partnerships shall include a completed Disclosure of Ownership form (N.J.S.A. 52:25-24.2) and shall include a completed Non-Collusion Affidavit.

The City of Linden reserves the right to reject any or all submissions due to any defects or waive informalities and accept any submissions that in their judgment will be in the best interest of the City of Linden. The City of Linden shall award the contract or reject all submissions no later than 60 days from receipt of the same.
