Public Notice for Land Lease for 10′ x 17′ (170 s.f.) Ground Space for Cell Site Platform at 320 West St. Georges Ave. Sealed bids will be received, opened and read in public for consideration by the Purchasing Agent of the City of Linden, at the City Hall, 301 North Wood Avenue, 3rd Floor, Planning Board Room, Linden, New Jersey 07036 on Thursday, July 25th, 2024, 9:30am prevailing time.

All bids shall be presented to the City of Linden by parties bidding or their agents previous to the time designated, or when called for by the City of Linden.

Bids shall be made on the standard proposal form and be enclosed in a sealed envelope addressed to the Purchasing Agent at the above address. The name and address for the bidder and the name of the item must be printed on the face of the envelope. One original and two copies of the bid proposal must be submitted. Bids will be rejected if not submitted within time, date and at place designated.

In all cases, in which a bid is delivered by public or private mailing, or hand delivered, the following address and notation shall appear prominently on the front of the outside envelope:

The bid documents shall be placed in an inside envelope which shall have the following endorsement in the upper right corner of the envelope:

Bidders who elect to utilize public or private mailing for delivery of bid assume the burden of correctly addressing the envelope.

The guaranty accompanying the bid proposal shall be given in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the maximum delivered price, but not to exceed twenty thousand dollars ($20,000), and may be given at the option of the bidder by a certified check or a bid bond from a reputable insurance company licensed in the State of New Jersey.

Bidders shall comply with the Affirmative Action Requirements of NJSA 10:5-31 et seq (P.L. 1975, C. 127); (N.J.A.C. 17:27), as amended from time to time, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and N.J.S.A. 52:25-24-2 P.L. 1977, Chapter 33.

Shade Tree Permits

In accordance with the City of Linden Ordinance No. 68-22 prior to the removal of any tree either dead or alive, with limited exceptions, a permit must be obtained from the City of Linden Division of Engineering Office for each tree which is to be removed. No more than three (3) healthy trees shall be permitted for removal on any property per calendar year.

Below is a list of the City of Linden’s Cooling Centers for 2024. These are the municipal buildings that are open and available to the public during their normal operating hours. Nothing else is required.

    • Operating Hours: Monday through Wednesday from 9am until 9pm. Thursday through Saturday from 9am until 5pm. *Closed on Sundays.
  • John T. Gregorio Recreation Center – 330 Helen Street
    • Operating Hours: Monday through Friday from 8:30am until 4:30pm. *Closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Linden Multi-Purpose Center – 1025 John Street
    • Operating Hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30am until 8pm. Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30am until 9pm. *Closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

  • Recycling Collections
    • Monday, June 17, 2024: Recycling (blue carts) in Districts 1, 2, 3, 9 and 10
    • Tuesday, June 18, 2024: Recycling (blue carts) in Districts 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8
  • Sanitation Collections
    • Wednesday, June 19, 2024: Sanitation (green carts) in Districts 1, 2, 3, 9 and 10
    • Thursday, June 20, 2024: Sanitation (green carts) in Districts 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8
    • All Wood Avenue and St. Georges Avenue Business sanitation and cardboard/paper recycling will be collected on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
  • No Collections
    • Friday, June 21, 2024: The Department of Public Works (DPW) will be closed in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. There will be no grass collection or bulk trash collection this week.
  • The Recycling Center and DPW yard bulk drop-off will be closed on June, 21, 2024, and will reopen on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Big Brother Program

Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, and the Department of Parks & Recreation are pleased to offer the Big Brother Program.

  • Who: Grades 6 through 12.
  • What: Big Brother Program. Big Brother helps children achieve success in school, helps them avoid risky behaviors (e.g. physical altercations, drugs and alcohol, etc.), and helps them improve their self-confidence. Their unique brand of one-to-one mentoring involves matching a child with a caring adult mentor. The support provided by a professional Big Brother staff member can change a child’s life for the better, forever.
  • Where: Linden Multi Purpose Center, which is located at 1025 John Street.
  • When: Fridays, from 5pm until 5:45pm beginning June 21, 2024. Eight (8) week program.
