Shade Tree Permits

In accordance with the City of Linden Ordinance No. 68-22 prior to the removal of any tree either dead or alive, with limited exceptions, a permit must be obtained from the City of Linden Division of Engineering Office for each tree which is to be removed. No more than three (3) healthy trees shall be permitted for removal on any property per calendar year.

The application can also be picked up in person at the Division of Engineering located at 301 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ, Monday through Friday from 9am until 5pm each week excluding holidays. All completed applications forms must be returned back to the Division of Engineering Office for review. Once the permit is deemed complete and the necessary fees are attached a permit shall be issued or denied within twenty (20) business days of submission of a complete application. Tree removal permits issued shall be valid for twelve (12) months. Permits may be renewed for an additional six-months for a fee.
