The following Ordinance has been adopted as mandated by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). Prepared by the Linden Department of Community Services, Division of Engineering & Department of Public Works.

- It is illegal to blow grass/lawn clippings into the street
- According to Ordinance 49-79, it is a violation to sweep, rake, blow or otherwise place yard waste, unless the yard waste is containerized, in the street.
- Professional Lawn services and residents can be cited for violations of these rules.
- If you have someone mow you lawn, remind them to dispose of grass clippings appropriately, or you will pay twice for their service and the citation
- City of Linden Public Works will collect grass clippings in a sturdy container labeled GRASS, of in a paper bag. Do not mix twigs, branches, rocks, or dirt with grass clippings. Clippings in PLASTIC bags will not be collected. Click here to view your Collection Schedule.
